The only hope (getting more and more faint with every bit I read and see) I have is that the one they tried was the xbox 360 version, which means that the PC version MIGHT be more tactical.

beyond that, I really hope that they had the 360 version up for try just to satisfy the silly console-leaning gaming journalists of today, or because transporting a 360 is easier than doing the same with a full fledged gaming PC, and not that the 360 is the lead development platform for a game that will later be ported to PC (with the result that it will not properly use the power of the aforementioned gaming PC).

But seriously, the game sounds more and more actionish-run-of-the-mill every time I heard about it, which is... disheartening. I'm more and more convinced that if we want to play games similar to what Bioware used to make, we might have to look elsewhere from now on.

In your point of view, if the qunari made itinto a movie, they would be cliché, because the writer just used them. Underground Dwarves are not cliché, because the concept is not in every single game, unchanged. There may be some games with underground Dwuarves, but DA changed some stuff in their culture, so I don't believe they should be called cliché.

Give yourself a history lesson on Dwarven mythology.  Honestly, the dwarves of DA are very cliché but it also isn't a problem.  In fact, the racial clichés that are present within Thedas are far more glairing than that of a framed narrative which you yourself branded.  Clichés are not necessarily bad but they are still there

People buy console reason console game. Blame personally you, logical. Very much wants pc expereince but no pc.
Guess whats Ronald Mcdonold? No longer pc expereince, well dones you.

It must be nice to be you, typing in an obviously intentional stupid manner simply to entertain yourself.  I say that because you sure as hell aren't entertaining anyone else.  Even if we look past your intentional dumb speak, your idiocy still shines through blatantly.

It somehow looks like google translate to me.

lol really?  Dwarves with beards and axes living underground is a definite trope.  Not a bad thing, because starting on familiar territory is good.  The culture is unique, sure, but the core elements are the same.  Kind of like how different stories can use a similar storytelling mechanic and still end up being quite different.  :)

If the core elements were changed, they would not be dwarves. The would be shot people with different stuff.

Of course.  That's why they picked dwarves.  The whole idea of using dwarves is that they are an established cliche to build on without reinventing countless lore.

Exactly.  I mean how many stories even use a framed narrative?  A very small percentage, I'd wager.

Seriously, you're in denial mode. I'm not saying it's a bad thing--the writers themselves wholly admit to using these well-known story devices to help tell their story.

Also, no, that's not my point of view. Where did you construe that? The dwarves are not exactly the same, but, again, they used that cliche. They used the cliche to their advantage. It is most certainly a Standard Fantasy Setting world.

Seems some people skimmed the article, and skipped the end of it?

At the end of it, the editor (don't remember who it was) played the part where Cassandra interrupts Varric and his exaggeration.

So Kotaku did not say it was a button-mashing/extreme-gory slaughterfest.

The article was basically like all the other articles about this demo.

I want this game... NAAOOW! :P

Guys it's only a fricking alpha stage! The tactics and everything will improve...there is more than half a year left. And the guy who wrote the review for Kotaku should know this. Does this look like DA 1 to you?

Image IPB

No? Well these were the first ever screens.

I hate when people say "Bioware just lost a customer" (frist page). Did you see a review of the final stuff to say that? Also, it has been said numerous times that the demo was one of Varric's exagerations, in which you have god-like powers.

Yeah, I wouldn't take Kotaku too seriously. And DA's combat was very cumbersome. They could keep the overall outline but make fast and exciting. You know, enjoyable. I refuse to get upset over anything in a third party article, and there's still about 6 months left remember. I'll say what I've been saying since this game was announced: Chill out.

I just read all Rubbish Hero's posts in Borat's voice, it makes them much more entertaining and has the added benefit of making it impossible to take anything he says seriously.
