When you hear God of War being being compared to it; no amount of delusional wishful-thinking can save you from the implications.

Is it time to drop expectations to "bargain bin sale purchase" for tactical rpg fans yet?

Once again, that whole preview takes place during the exaggerated sequence.  This is what I'm talking about, they're misleading way too many people with this marketing strategy.  A poor choice on Bioware's part IMO.

It's being compared in the exaggerated scene where the entire point is to show how brutal you are.

Just another article that will mislead people who aren't in the loop of updates and responses by the creators....seriously, reading the responses on the article itself is quite annoying when you know about exaggerated gameplay and framed narrative.

Yeah, I'm starting to agree with some of the people here in saying that this definitely isn't the smartest way to market the game.  Then again, the people on this forum are a very miniscule percentage of the grand total that will end up purchasing DA2.  It could be that they're purposely trying to draw in the hack n slash crowd that will be reading these previews thinking they can go through this game God of War style.  Either way, they're misleading someone.

The best way to market a game is to pay gamespot so they hype the game

Until one of gamespot's reviewers writes a review that isn't in favor of such hype, and then BAM, you have a Kane and Lynch problem on your hands.

If you are paying this won't happen.

The developing team behind Kane and Lynch were paying gamespot to advertise the game all over their website.  That's the whole reasing the scandal started in the first place.

Personally, I had stopped caring about "proffesional" reviews long before that anyway.  People seem to forget that a review is just one person's opinion, and that we all may very well have a different one.  Sure, the reviewer can describe what they don't like about it, but in my experience it's shown that if the reviewer really didn't like the game, they're going to make it sound worse than it actually is.  It works the other way too, where reviewers tend to over-glorify a game that's really not that special.  Take GTA4 for example, which received a perfect 10 from gamespot.

So yeah, I've decided I'd much rather form my own opinion than take it from someone who's getting paid for his.

It's not though. Rubbish used to be able to speak coherently, on rare occasions. I'm not sure what happened.

Rubbish has admitted to being from a non-English country, I think Japan?

In any event, if you can't speak or comprehend English well, why partake in these forums.  If you barely speak English you won't be able to make a coherent argument that most of the readers of this forum can understand.  There are other forums dedicated to non-English speakers, so why not use those?

Despite the crappy optimization, glitches, and issues that have yet to be adressed.
The bad thing is that the only way we can know if a game (without demo) is good is to buy it.

Rubbish also seems to be able to speak in comprehensible english at times, I think he / she / it is just a troll that works for valve and advertises how awesome they are whenever possible.

Several stations were set up for play. Only the English version featured chairs, which is one of the reasons I love BioWare. They know where Americans stand: Preferably not.

Uh oh, ahah wow...

Vitriolic remark aside, nothing really new here, the exagerated sequence plays like an action game, an acceptable and possibly welcome break if used sparingly, the rest may be hastened up a bit but not to the point it is not recognizable. I don't see how this article invalidates anything, it's just the same stuff we've been told for days now.

It's not racism to suggest that if you can't speak English well enough for us to understand the arguments you are making, you should probably avoid making them.  You can't make an effective argument or have an effective discussion if you can't write them coherently enough.

Sometimes your English is a lot better--I suspect you are using a quick translation program for some posts and other times spend a lot of time writing more detailed arguments.  But if you use the former a lot of people won't understand your arguments.

Gabe Newell's belly would never hire undercover Valve employees to do such thing.

Is the goal of DA's PR department to purposely confuse gaming sites? Poor devs, they've had to spend the last 2 years doing damage control and clearing up misconceptions.

No hes just trolling. Notice how the only responses he makes are to the attacks and not to anything that is relevant to his original post.
He has shown no interest what so ever in trying to defend his stance or to rebuke anything that debunks his claims of DA2 being a button masher blah blah blah. Only in stirring up more drama.

I'm not sure I've ever seen such a wide range of opinions and impressions by "professionals" from a couple of short demos of a game.

I really like how people are jumping from one complaint to another. First it was "Why can't we play our Warden? WHYYYYY?". They showed Hawke: "We love Hawke! He can beat the Warden's ass anytime!". When they will see the actual screenshots: "OMG i liked this game from the very beginning!" and find something else...

You obviously are not reading what I said.

I don't understand Japanese or Spanish or Russian.  I would not go to a forum to discuss anything in their native language if all I could do is use Google Translate, because I would end up looking like a fool.

You may have honest opinions, and interesting ideas, but if you can't communicate them effectively people are going to make fun of you and dismiss your views.

And you're complaining that others can't understand what you're saying.

You would have a valid point if BioWare had boards for specific languages. Far as I can tell it's either English or get the hell out of here. So it's either try and get ones point across as best they can or be completely shut out, and personally I've got no problem with people trying. More often then not I can understand what Rubbish is saying anyways.
