You obviously are not reading what I said.

I don't understand Japanese or Spanish or Russian.  I would not go to a forum to discuss anything in their native language if all I could do is use Google Translate, because I would end up looking like a fool.

You may have honest opinions, and interesting ideas, but if you can't communicate them effectively people are going to make fun of you and dismiss your views.

And you're complaining that others can't understand what you're saying.

Yohko, Rubbish is a native english speaker.  He does this to annoy the hell out of forum members.  The more you talk about not understand him or pointing out inconsistancies in his arguments the more off the wall and offensive he will get.  He is a troll, not all the time mind you but damn near.

A successful troll, I might add.

You would have a valid point if BioWare had boards for specific languages. Far as I can tell it's either English or get the hell out of here. So it's either try and get ones point across as best they can or be completely shut out, and personally I've got no problem with people trying. More often then not I can understand what Rubbish is saying anyways.

Actually, there are four languages for Bioware's boards:  English, French, Dutch (or German?), and Polish.

I have no problem with somebody trying.  I wouldn't have a problem if he was simply asking questions.  I've seen other people do that and I have no problem with that--most even apologize for their poor English skils.

However, if you are going to make arguments--especially repeated arguments about the direction of the game, it's not going to look as good if you can't at least write them coherently.  People are calling him a "troll" and I don't think that's entirely fair--but I am suggesting if you want to get in a serious debate, and if you want people to take you seriously, don't complain about other people's reading comprehension if you can't write the argument clearly so people can understand your POV, and don't come across as antagonistic.

And I don't think he's a troll.  If he truly has trouble writing English, I think it may come across as that, which is why I am suggesting he either post less frequently and write the much clearer arguments he has done in the past--assuming it's not two different people sharing the same account--or stick to simple questions and not get into complex debates.

I honestly think you're all giving Rubbish far too much credit. When it wants to, it can formulate a perfectly coherent sentence just fine. Whenever it's trolling is when it sounds like a mentally handicapped version of Yoda.

Can everyone please stop talking about Rubbish and get back on topic about this article?

I read this earlier and honestly I didn't really care for this one since it sounded like all those early previews we were getting a few weeks ago. A lot of the issues they had with the demo had already been explained by the Devs on here.

Better having 10 Rubbish Heroes than 1 Kordaris Imho. At least Rubbish sometimes says something pretty meaningful.

There is? Huh, learn something new every day. Must have it hidden off somewhere though cause I can't find it.

I don't know, every time I see people take a jab at Rubbish I can't help but think it's becasue s(he) is generally speaking with a negative tone and they're just using the poor communication as a point of attack and a valid excuse to dismiss criticism, which to an extent is valid but God knows there's a double standard there and if Rubbish was a vocal supporter and argued against those being critical the same people calling him/her a troll and taking pot shots wouldn't be doing so then. And unfortunatly I think the coming off as atagonistic is simply a result of poor word choice, which obviously is a result of not knowing English very well.

But yeah I agree with you on the fact that one does need to be clear and percise if their to hold a serious debate, sometimes Rubbish does that other times not. As I said I don't have much of a problem putting two and two together and get the gist of what Rubbish is saying, sometimes s(he) will post a head scratcher but nothing where I've got to say to myself "this one needs to go away." I don't know, I've always just been of the belief that if you don't understand what's going on just walk away rather then get in their and stir up the muck. It isn't Rubbish's fault people keep debating and arguing with him/her after all.

It turns out the battle we just fought wasn't quite real. An annoyed woman with an authoritative air about her berates an overweight man for padding the truth. "You knew him way before he was the hero," she says, and then the game proper begins.

This is so cliche.

It seems to me that the beginning bit is essentially a fun, integrated tutorial. I don't think it's cliche; or at least, no more than the DAO world itself is. You take one with the other. B)

DAO was not cliche. Period

Yeah, okay lol

I hate when people say "Bioware just lost a customer" (frist page). Did you see a review of the final stuff to say that? Also, it has been said numerous times that the demo was one of Varric's exagerations, in which you have god-like powers.

I believe the entire game is Varric's exaggerations.

How so? As far as I'm aware the entire game is told through Varric's spin of it. The events itself really happened but the inhuman feats and excessive blood and guts and other similar aspects would be a mainstay for the game because that's how "epic tales" go. What did I miss there?

So just drop the term hack and slash from the vocabulary to market this game in the forums, sure there is a lot of hacking and slashing going on in a game with swords but still remember that we no speak normal, we speak nerd Image IPB

Oh? Well, if I'd known that, I would have posted this sooner, and totally not made it up on the fly. At all. ;)

Exaggerated Protagonist

During exaggerated sequences of the game, characters under the influence of this effect enjoy a signifcant boost to his damage, as well as his/her accuracy. His hits are also treated as having a multiplier to the "force" attribute, which silently calculates the odds of a creature receiving and applying a knock back or knockdown effect as a result of a hit. Treat all criticals as "spectacular deaths" (66) and do not roll on the critical hit table when determining results.

For all intents and purposes, all encounters involving the idealized protqagonist (as detailed in Varric's Complete Guide to Protagonistic Exaggeration (Vol.2 with the August 17th Errata)), should be treated as challenge level zero, and no loot or experience should be awarded. Upon the removal of the Exaggerated Protagonist effect, resume challenge calculations as normal, and strip all bonuses based on the Exaggerated Protagonist effect immediately, while reinstating normal loot, experience and character progression mechanics.

Note to DMs: the Exaggerated Protagonist effect can be a powerful storytelling tool, and can be especially useful for highlighting improvements on the delay between the order-issuance and order-completion phases of combat (as introduced in edition 2 of the core rules).

It should be used sparingly, however, as overuse of Exaggerated Protagonist will typically result in detachment from the character's typical progression mechanics, potentially resulting in disengagement on the part of your players. For DMs working with the rules outlined in Frame Narratives ed. 2, it's recommended that you review the section on alternate storytelling techniques and employ a variety when designing your campaign in order to keep your players both engaged and posting on your forums while trying to discern is this section of the effect's description is actually valid, or simply you messing with their heads.

So people can see for themselves and make their own opinions, instead of having to read stupid articles made by sites that hype COD.

They'd form their opinions on baseless gameplay, though. People were raging because of the playable demo at Gamescom when they didn't have iso view, Laidlaw came and delivered the smackdown and people found something else to complain about.

Letting the demo loose would make people assume that part of the game is final and everything is already exactly like that, look at Rubbish for example. Rubbish can't tell the difference between the console and PC version.

Mafia II Has a demo which story is not "canon"

And?

I think it is a good idea. Because people can see the game's features without getting spoiled.

No, it is a mission form the final game. There just isn't any snow.

Because Varric corrects the tale immediately after he's called out on his bullk**** and tells the real version immediately afterwards?
