I recently made an FShep and decided to see what romancing Garrus would be like. When you initiate it with him, his attitude towards you is much more of respect and admiration, as opposed to love. I think he sees Shepard as a friend much more than he sees her as a love interest. Consequently, it felt extremely forced, almost as if Garrus was only agreeing to do because he doesn't want to lose Shepard's approval.

How far into the romance did you go? In the beginning its like that but the mood changes a little farther into the romance.

My beef with Garrus' romance: claw hammer.

But seriously, Garrus' romance, like Tali's, was included because the fans were asking for it from the last game. Possible fatalities didn't deter the fans from wanting it, so they're not going to be stopped by minor things like the sheer suddenness of it or Garrus' hero worshipping.

Im suprised you had the time to let it bother you. Those ME2 romances last little more than five minutes, literally.

I went all the way. I think Garrus definitely has the shortest romance and build up, insofar as dialogue goes.

Garrus has the smallest amount of dialogue period.

Nice discussion, but if you want to talk about garrus we have a thread and a group for that. Posting another thread about a certain character doesn't end well, like we've seen about a couple days ago.

I pretty much took the romance as a friends with benefits encounter. People point out the situation seems to get deeper than that, as if you can't have complicated feelings for a friend or share fears and hopes with a friend.

If there was more time, more chance to develop the romance, I could see it moving beyond the friends with benefits stage. But there wasn't time, so that's where the romance leaves off for me in the game.

Really, it sounds like the thought really never even crossed Garrus's mind until Shepard expresses interest. Once the thought is there, he probably starts thinking about it quite a bit. But yeah, he respects Shepard, admires her, and probably does value Shepard's opinion of him greatly. Don't think he'd agree to sex for fear of losing Shepard's approval, though. If you do turn him down after initiating the romance, he does seem disappointed.

Garrus' lack of dialogue has always been a problem. I'm hoping he gets more talk time in ME3.

Nah, posting specific topics about characters in individual threads probably would work out well for those looking to break away from immediate character-defense. If the topic diverged, start a new thread for the new topic. Keeps everything focused and open to all.

Unless you turn him down in the final scene.

Saw it on youtube, and suffice it to say only Jack's rejection is worse than his.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but Thane's romance is the only FemShep romance that actually makes sense. Anyone who's romanced Thane knows what I'm talking about.

I've done every romance. Why do you believe that Thane's romance makes sense, but the other options for FemShep don't?

Well, maybe Phoenix means:

Jacob's romance consists of of Shepard blatantly hitting on him until he caves and goes for "The Priiize."

Garrus's romance seems very incomplete given his lack of dialogue, and as Pacifien says, it seems more like a friends with benefits encounter.

Thane, on the other hand, has had no close companionship for a long time, thus the bonding between him and Shepard may seen more genuine on an emotional level.

I thought he meant in general. As in "all of the LI's".

I can understand what Phoenix says if it's only the ME2 Femshep LI's, even through I disagree.

Its funny that women would rather go with Thane and Garrus who are both aliens, over Jacob.

Guess getting called teh prize is a real turn off.

Indeed I meant the FemShep options. I wasn't generalizing at all.

Well, as I always tell people about the romances, you only get out of it what you put into it. It's not like they spend the entirety of the game building the romance, it's only a very small part of other issues. Tell someone who absolutely loves a romance, finds it the most realistic of the lot, that you don't see what they're seeing -- it's not that you guys saw different versions of the romance if you have both done it. It means you have interpreted the romance differently. This is possible. People's life experiences are different. This means they will interpret the same situation different ways.

As Samara says, if there are three humans in a room, there will be six different opinions.

Though topics like this (even though it may be civil....for now) usually ends with character bashing and trolling.
