Xbox 360 ftw, I'm pulling the trigger and not clicking a mouse, much better experience, but PC's have mods, one of the perks for PC owners. Again, console feels like a better gaming experience, controller > keyboard

Interesting that someone (was it the OP?) said that they couldnt get into DA on the console but the PC version they loved.  I bought DA for my 360 (after ME2) and just haven't been able to enjoy it, currently its languishing on my pile of shame - maybe I should get it for PC then?

Absolutely. The game is absolutely phenomenal on the pc and incredibly mediocre on the consoles.

PC here too, been a PC gamer for 20 odd years and my preferred control scheme is good ole WASD + Mouse. Loved ME 1 and 2 on the PC and looking forward to ME 3 on the PC too.

why have songs not been written about "WASD + mouse" ?

Thanks guys, just checked it out on Steam, still seems pretty pricey, I'll wait till I've finished Starcraft2 before I give it a whirl.

Might as well wait until steam puts it on sale.

Mass Effect on console, more comfy for me and better TV than monitor.

Not impressed with the ME mods on PC.

Depends on the type of game, for me ME works on the console.

2 or 3 years ago I got Mass Effect for my xbox and I absolutely hated it. Couldn't stand it. Picked it up again about a year ago now in a steam sale and it's become my favorite game series.

So PC.

Exact same thing here, to the T.

A couple years ago i tried mass effect for 360 and couldnt make it passed citadel, my tastes mustve been different then, since i gave it another shot all of 3 weeks ago and am now hooked on the series.

Also got it off Steam.

PC. KB/M >>>> gamepad for shooters.   Much higher resolution and framerate are nice too.

i cant imagine playing me 2 with a little monitor, little speakers and controls that arent fluid. I'd rather a massive plasma screen, high quality sound system and analog sticks/triggers for a lot more fluid and immersive gameplay.

I have played games on consoles since the NES. I'll play games on my PC but it's not high-end so most games I'll play on my Xbox, including ME.

(I am also clumsy with a keyboard.)

I'd rather play on the PC, but ME1 came out for the XBox 360 first and I had no idea when it would be coming out on the PC or if my PC at the time could handle it. And since I started the series on the 360, I decided to keep going with that trend.

Sure, I could spend the cash to buy ME1 and ME2 on the PC, but you know, there are other equally frivolous things I could spend the cash on.

I can't imagine playing Mass Effect at 720p resolution and less than 30fps.  I think you have a few misconceptions about PC's, I don't play on a "little monitor" I play on a 24" monitor that gives me the ability to play Mass Effect at 2048x 1152 and I get a constant 60fps at that res.  If I want I also have my PC connected to my 37" 1080p HDTV and I can choose to game on that if I so wish.

As for high quality sound, my PC is hooked up to a 7:1 surround sound system and that is consider a bit "meh" these days on the PC.  Finally your argument about sticks and triggers being more fluid and immersive is an opinion.  I personally find the mouse and keyboard to be far more immersive, fluid and precise.

some people have commented that the key bindings are also useful on PC and I don't know that I'd enjoy the game as much if I had to pause to use squad powers all the time.

It doesn't bother me all that much, but I have never played it on the PC so *shrug*

As far as I am aware the squad powers work the same way on the PC as they do on the console.  On the 360 the game gets paused when you bring the "power wheel" up to access your squad powers.  A similar thing happens with the PC version (only it isn't a wheel).  On the PC version you can assign squad powers to keys 1 - 8 and use them in real time bypassing the pause altogether.

Now I will admit I have never seen the console version, but from videos I have seen the squad powres are handled pretty much the same on the PC as the consoles.

Mass Effect started on the 360, and that's where I like it. I only use my (old) PC to play my old RTS games like Tiberian Sun and Warcraft III.

afaik you're right... the point is you can maintain the intensity and the challenge through not pausing but through useing the hot keys. Heading into my 3rd, 4th, 5th playthroughs I was edging towards an uninterrupted execution way of playing. It makes insanity as hard as it gets. On 60% of the fights now I can play without pausing on insanity... it's my way of making it challenging. and on a further 20% of the fights it pausing just to see where the enemies are, not for aiming.

on that last 20% of the fights, I have to pause to line em up.

I couldn't imagine playing like an adept on a console. Must have to pause a few thousand times throughout

On my PC - I'm useless with the console controllers and a whiz with the mouse & keyboard. Plus it's much prettier on a big LCD monitor only a few inches away from your face.

Bullseye. See this a lot where many think large size equals greater resolution. Too bad, they don't know what they are missing.

No, it really is a vast difference.  I played on PS3 originally.  Quite enjoyed it too.  Then I decided to get a decent graphics card for my PC finally and figured "Hey, I'll get DA for it too."  It was like playing one of those totally overhauled remakes of older titles.  Recognizable, but just plain not the same game.  Especially combat.  My whole method of approaching fights was altered radically. And graphically, there's just no comparison.  Not to mention all the mods and the toolset.

Really the thing that makes ME a console game is the control scheme.  A shooter should actually involve shooting, and for that reason any shooter I get is console based.  I don't see the appeal of clicking a button to shoot someone instead of pulling a trigger.  Personal preference I know, but hey, that's really all this thread is about.  I wish I had Dragon Age on PC though, but I got it as a gift for console, so meh.  That type of game seems made for PC, as opposed to ME which seems made for console.

And people who tout the pausing thing as a reason for the PC version don't have much history with gaming tactics, I would say.  Bioware has a history with pausable combat.  You pretty much HAD to pause combat in any Inifinity engine game (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale) or you would die because combat went by too fast.  So needless to say, I don't mind pausing to bring up my power wheel.

Really my preference for which platform depends on the type of game.  But for most games besides shooters, I prefer the greater control/complexity of the PC.
