Yeah Mick was a definitely a whiny douchebag, but the tweens had a reason to watch it I guess.. However his pal, can't remember his name was definitely a good example of a vampire IMO (talking about the Moonlight series)

I cant recall the guys name either but he was well written and acted, between him and the lore I was able to watch the show.

I would have preferred the show to be about him with Mick as a side character, since he was Micks friend/mentor, Mick could have been a plot device in some episodes to get him involved in human situations that he normally would not care about.

Bending the rules on some things are fine in some instances; disregarding everything that made them what they are (burn in sunlight, etc.) is creating something entirely different and (IMO) looses the ability to be compared to previous incarnations.

I don't think it was (for me, anyway) about the fact that they didn't burn in the sun; it was more that they took away a lot of depth that vampires have, and replaced it with useless who's-dating-who bull****. Also, Bella is so incredibly ****y that I probably couldn't watch it even if had a fantastic story.

^i know with anne rices vampires the Children of the Millennia or ancient vampires, can go out in the sunlight. older vampires being more powerful then the young.
i guess i like some of her lore because of her writing style, even when she puts her own twist on it.

I liked Rice's novles because, when I'd think about vampires logically, I liked how she explained things. Instead of "it's just part of vampire lore," she actually devoted time to explaining why vampires are the way they are. Why they're physically dead, why they drink blood, what exactly a vampire is, things like that. No one else seems to bother.

Behindyounow wrote...
The bisexual, leather fetishists that occassionaly drink blood every now and again that Anne Rice writes about are not amazing examples of scary, amoral vampires.

I'd counter that they are fairly amoral, at least in comparison to humans. If you're looking for slavering hellbeasts, then not so much, no. And scary, well, I suppose that's a matter of opinion. I didn't find them scary, but I know others that did.

SerenCousland wrote...
Vampires are murderous creatures, yes some stories include them getting a soul and retaining they're humanity!

Oh, Joss Whedon-sama . . .<3

Anyway, what all that nonsense boils down to is this: If Bioware ever decided to do vampires, I'm sure they'd kick ass and take names at it. Dwarves are a good example; they retained enough of the original dwarven mythos that everyone was accustomed to, and changed just enough that their audience was impressed and it still felt shiny and new.

 Wow, wall of text. Apologies.

Hey you know what? Why don't we suggest the wolfman, mummy, the swamp thing, and all other creatures from the HORROR genre. Heck, let's throw in some storm troopers, cylons, klingons, etc. from the SCI-FI genre. This genre is DARK FANTASY for a reason.

Wolfman is there. Did you forget about the Brecilian forest?!

Opinion stuff...

I actually wrote like a nine paragraph argument against Twilight, but did not post it because it is not Dragon Age.

Figured I like Bioware to much to risk a ban.

The way you quote me alone shows clearly that you are unable to lead a civil discussion and to accept differing opinions, which is why I shall ignore you from now on:devil:

Btw, it ALSO shows that your nine-paragraph rant is most probably full of bullsh!t and that you haven´t even read it before criticising. Sorry.

Say there is a steaming pile of crap infront of you. You don't need to eat a spoonful of it to tell its a pile of crap.

I knew this thread will come.

Don't worry, press enough how cool it will be, and I am sure marketing and execs will notice.

Eventually you will get your Ninjas, Katanas, Vampires, Teen Girl Warriors in the game.

But if the crap is in a box you need to open the box and take a look to see if there is REALLY crap inside. It could be a nice surprise instead, you don´t know before looking.

Very well then, let us run with the metaphor you introduced.

Say there is a box. There is a smell coming from it that smells remarkably like crap and a crowd of frenzied flies buzz around it. Several people who you know to love the taste of crap have also received this box in the past, and they heartily recommend you open it.

Of course, even if Twilight was the literary masterpiece that people make it out to be, I probably still wouldn't of read it. I'm not a fan of the romance genre.

And that is a very understandable attitude.

However, it annoys me if people are like "Omg it´s a romance and many people like it, so it must suck!!!"
Why can´t you just say "It´s not to my tastes so I don´t judge it"?!

I mean, I don´t like Hip-Hop, for example. But that doesn´t mean every Hip-Hop musician is automatically untalented, it just means *I* don´t like it, even if the artist is really good at what he does.

I´d prefer if weird feces fetishists could simply go to sleep in their pile of crap now so we can discuss like civil people.

Civil? Since when in this whole thread has anyone been civil. Tell me did you create that all up in your little fantasy world? Before you talk about being civil become smarter.
