Oh, come on.  What about Epic Mo- er...

Well, how about Superhero M-....  Then there was Scary Movie 1-4...

Hmmm, in that case, if you go in knowing it's gonna be terrible, does that still means it's disapointing?  Or just meeting expectations?

I must say, I'm surprised this thread hasn't been locked yet.

But yeah, no vampires please.

Well, to be fair, Dracula didn't burn in sunlight.  He just had his powers weakened...  He actually wasn't even terribly seductive either, he just broke into girl's bedrooms in the dead of night and drank their blood while they slept

I'd like to see vampiric monsters though, like the fleders in The Witcher, the Night Flier, or a design similar to some Halloween masks.

The vampires of today that most of you are complaining about have one thing in common - they're too human, in appearance and personality. They're better off remaining as mysterious and sinister individuals.

Though personally I'd be interested in some cult with design influences from the cenobites in Hellraiser.

I don't mind vampires being human in appearance and personality, so long as they're completely amoral and see people as nothing but food. That's what makes then scary; you never know who might be one unless you look for signs constantly, and then BAM, you slip up and you're the appetizer. Think Ann Rice vampires, or the Kindred from Vampire: the Masquerade or Vampire: the Requiem.

Also, they burn up in sunlight, or at the very least are so severely weakened by it that they're just another dude in a stupid cape- none of that glitter crap.

No, Vamps are too popular right now, they are in EVERYTHING. I am getting a bit tired of them.

I liked the fact that DA:O did werewolves but avoided the temptation to do Vampires.

Besides twilight reduced vampires to creepy stalkers.

There was a short lived television series called Moonlight.  While I did not care for the plot, (yet another vampire who wants to be human again), the lore for the vampires was really well done, they kept it really close to the original concept while removing the religious conotations.

The vamps where much stronger and faster then humans and healed quickly if they have fed, to the point where they would have complete control in a 1 on 1 situation with any human, but not so redicuously strong that it makes no sense for them to hide what they are.

Most movies and shows seem to fall into one of the extremes that vampires are either so pathetic that they are not scary at all, or so incredibly strong they could simply dominate humans with no need to hide what they are, so this was a refreshing change for once.

They treated sunlight as harmful to vampires, but so long as they where well fed they could heal more quickly then the sun could kill them, but eventually they would get so hungry they would attack anyone at random or die from the exposure.  I liked it, it went back to the old school vampires going out in the sun but being weakened by it so they avoided it when possible, and actually gave a reason why they did so.

Yes, I also liked that show (recently rewatched the first and only season).  Although Mick was pretty irritating in his whining about vampirism, I wish it had gone on anyway.  *sigh*.  They left a lot of really promising stuff unanswered, like what the new DA was going to do about the list of LA vampires, and how Coraline and Lance were unaffected by fire (my guess is it was that special bloodline thing that would have made Mick invulnerable to it too).  Oh well.

The bisexual, leather fetishists that occassionaly drink blood every now and again that Anne Rice writes about are not amazing examples of scary, amoral vampires.

Yeah Mick was a definitely a whiny douchebag, but the tweens had a reason to watch it I guess.. However his pal, can't remember his name was definitely a good example of a vampire IMO (talking about the Moonlight series)

No to vampires. It annoyed the crap out of me in Oblivion when I tried to get rid of that "virus" so thanks but no thanks.
And what's the deal with all that whacky Twilight stuff? A movie like that can actually be extremely good and sophisticated if it is done the swedish way like this here.

loved that movie.

I was lucky/sensible enough to avoid reading or watching anything Twilight-related, so vampires remain untarnished to me. I wouldn't mind them being introduced in DA as long as it is done in an interesting way. Actually, don't vampires already exist in the lore as a type of abomination?

Lol I've avoided the series, too, but you can't walk near the fiction section of the book store without passing 11ty vampire porn novels called "Caressed at Moonlight" and crap like that.
