I was lucky/sensible enough to avoid reading or watching anything Twilight-related, so vampires remain untarnished to me. I wouldn't mind them being introduced in DA as long as it is done in an interesting way. Actually, don't vampires already exist in the lore as a type of abomination?

Lol I've avoided the series, too, but you can't walk near the fiction section of the book store without passing 11ty vampire porn novels called "Caressed at Moonlight" and crap like that.  

On the bright side, things have gone so bad with this that some authors are writing vampire novels in "retalation" to the romantic vamp, going back to the heartless predator.

If they could make the vampires savage and scary (or even sophisticated and scary, like old-school Dracula) then yeah sure I wouldn't mind. Hell they could take a page from Being Human and go with vampires as addicts. But no vampires as super heroes or vampires as tortured emo children, it's just boring at this point.

I am in favor of this as long as we use some "real world" but bizarre vampire mythos. Something like having them hop everywhere, vomit butterflies or preventing them form chasing you by scatterig seeds on the ground. That sort of thing.

Vampires are murderous creatures, yes some stories include them getting a soul and retaining they're humanity! but they're still blood thirsty creatures!

Agreed but as much as I love Eric and the other vamps, Lafayette is the BEST character on the show.
