well, a lot of people wil tell you to go and do the Stone Prisoner as soon as you leave lothering, Helm of Honnleath that you get there is very useful, then you can essentially do any of the others at any time, apart from Golems as it's meant as endgame content.
Return to Ostagar could be tricky pre-level 10 but I've managed it before, Warden's Keep can be done at any time but the main loot scales to your current level (you used to be able to upgrade it anyway at the merchant at wardens keep but it might have changed now)

Leliana's Song gives you a very nice rogue armor, that transfers into all your Origins games.

Leilianas song is before the origins story?

Chronological order is Leliana's Song - Origins - Awakening - Golems of Amgarrak.

Yea ^ that, and the three in-game DLC's can be done any time, but you should do them early to get the decent equipment early on
plus it can be upgraded to be of use later on in the game too
but definiely do stone prisoner early as poss

Naturally, the Darkspawn Chronicles is outside this timeline (being an alternate ending). It, like LS, gives you an item you can use in the main game.

Does it matter if you create the character before you play Leliana's Song or the Darkspawn DLC, or will the items still show up?

No, the items should appear in the inventory for your existing games as well.Astalder wrote...

You should play the free DLC first!
Then...start charging away on your credit card.

I just got the UE and I want to do the game from beginning to end. From what I understand Leliana's is supposed to be played before Origins and Darkspawn is played after? When do I play the others or doesn't it matter. Also when I create a new character can I go into Leliana from there?

You play a different character in Leliana's Song - Leliana who is a potential party member in Origins. It gives you background for that character.
Darkspawn chronicles kinda spoils Origins' ending so it is best played after you've completed Origins at least once.
The chronological order is given above. Witch Hunt is the last DLC.

I've played Origins several times.I decided to get the UE because it was cheaper than getting everything else seperately.I wanted to start from the beginning and play everything before DA2,I just wasn't sure where all the dlc fit in.

im trying to figure this out myself right now i already did origins and the few things inside origins, then did witches hunt it looks like i cant use my character from witches hunt for anything afterwards because its not letting me import it into the golum game, guess ill do leliana next, then Awakening - then Golems of Amgarrak and the darkspawn last. im kind of worried im not going to get the trophy for hitting level 31 and i havent even killed 500 darkspawn yet let alone 1000 and im a level 19 so i hope tons more show up or ill never get those trophies

I'd take first three steps pretty soon once the prologue and "setting things up" phase is done. I wager it is possible to do them " too late" IMPORTANT: If you do not have nude patch installed, merge step 3. as a part of step 4.
P.S Thanks in advance!
- Warden's Keep
- Shale/Stone Prisoner
- Return to Ostagar
- Uninstall all the other DLC.Burn your hard drive and scatter the ashes in four separate corners of the world.
- Return home and enter your bathroom.
- Begin beating your head against the sink until a vision of flux capacitor and how to build one is gained.
- Build a flux capacitor.
- Build a time machine around the flux capacitor.
- Travel back in time, I'd recommend year 1998-2000 or so.
- Once all settled in past, Get a job at Bioware. (You might also wanna check Marilyn Manson out. I realize this is hard to believe but he was AWESOME back then.) Make sure to reach a significant position within Bioware by mid-2009 or so.
- USE YOUR POSITION WITHIN BW TO ENSURE THAT MAJORITY OF DA DLC DOES NOT SUCK ASS.
- Travel back in your time. Buy a new hard drive, reinstall the DLC.
- Keep playing the original DA campaign until you complete Leliana's quest in Denerim, then take a break from original campaign and play through Leliana's Song which, solely thanks to your valiant efforts in past, neither sucks nor makes DA worse game than it is without it.
- Finish the original campaign. Be sure to romance Morrigan and hump her senseless to make her (Improved thanks to you<3) DLC more meaningful.
- The new, vastly improved Darkspawn Chronicles goes here.
- Awakening.
- Golems of whatever.
- Witch Hunt
P.S Thanks in advance!

DLC is a abbreviation for DownLoad Content and you can find it at the link below.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. I had a similar query regarding order of DLC, and all of the responses given here (save for the one quoted below) were very helpful. Thanks a bunch everyone, obviously everyone except for LTD.
Pointless, not funny and not in the least bit helpful:

In Origins...when I first get to the camp site...I do Warden's Keep first, because the guy shows up at your camp site...so it's weird to put it off.
Then, I "decide" to head towards redcliffe from Soldiers Peak...when we "come across" Elric being attacked.
That encounter prompts us to change our course to Return to Ostagar.
From there, I head to Redcliffe and begin the main storyline.

I did mine in the worst order. It got me confused. But I suggest doing them in chronological order. Such as. 1. Leliana's Song. 2. Dragon Age - Origins. 3. [ Any order for the in-game content. ] 4. Darkspawn Chronicles. 5. Golems of Amgarrak. 6. Witch Hunt. 7. Awakening. That's how I'd do them.
