This is for the people who have played all three to the end. Who do you think is the most powerful?

I've been thinking about it and I honestly think my warrior would beat my rogue, my rogue would beat my mage and my mage would beat my warrior, so it's kind of even in reality.

The rogue is faster in giving damage to enemies, the mage could do high damage and other cool things. And the warrior is very resistant to on-by-one fight, and he gives a pretty high damage but slow.

Rogue ? Certainly over Warrior, and especially since i hate walking past a locked chest that i can't open. I actually enjoyed my Rogue archer... the peak damages were amazing... but if you consider which character i would rather *never* be without, well then i'd say Mage.

I played Mage my first few times through, and had started 3 Warriors and 2 Rogues, but i still ended up controlling the Mage in the battles - the Mage, imho, is by far the most powerful overall...

Warrior as a 2H was fun since they have so many options for controlling the battle, but their usually easy to hit... so i suppose a DW Warrior would be a good alternative... i may have to go try this... The Tank, like Alistair, is rather sad... i just wish he'd generate more threat...

But, i suppose they all have their strengths... i'm pretty sure there have been discussions of going *solo* on Nightmare for every character type, (except perhaps sword + shield ;o)

I always find a Cunning Rogue to be the most powerful to play. I love playing a mage as well, but I generally end up crowd controlling on them. I haven't played a warrior for a while, I'm thinking of rolling a two-handed one next. :)

I always go with a group, and i found out that each class compliments each other nicely. Especially rogues and mages. Double haste + mass paralysis/cone of cold + backstabbing rogue is just awesome.

I've only tried rogue.. but based on my conclusion :

Warriors:are tankers two handed are slow but inflict tons of damage...they just need some constitution and powerful swords with powerful runes..with there stun chance knockback the opponent won't stand a chance.

Mages: are gankers they keep on spamming the enemy with stuns freezes slow downs and paralysis so for a melee user to reach them he would have gone through hell...but they have very low health and armor..Thats why they have heal but they surely need stamina regen in combat..

Rogues: are stealthy and look for opponent weak spots to ensure critical hits or backstabs. Most of there strength is in there dual weapons and specializations..And there very strong spells..If you manage to get riposte,,cripple,,duel sweep whirlwind and your duelist and assassin spells going on and plus your ranger allies the enemy won't last a chance..Honestly I've never thought of the power of an archer rogue although they have lots of powerful spells and they can spam the mages till death...

based on this I'd say that a duel handed warrior is the strongest having powerful duel spells and able to switch to to two handed or sword and shield when his spells are in cooldown.....

He just needs some serious health and man regen in combat so he can do his duel, sword and shield, and two handed spells(abilities) and to survive the mages or rogues spells and with his berserk,,Templar, and Champion specializations no one stands a chance.........

But no one is unbeatable....

Depends. Warriors are capable of serious damage output and solid defense, but that's mostly it. Mages you can get more creative with. They can kill faster than a warrior if they've got enough number of spells and cooldown isn't slowing them down. Arguably they can also make the best tanks as well. As for rogues, the best of rogues may not defeat the best of mages or warriors. Their strength lies in skills outside combat, and they're excellent complementary, too. They get the most out of flanking and all that.

I'd say mage > warrior > rogue, though I'm big on rogues myself. I find them most fun to play.

That's news to me.

*edit* As to which is the most powerful, I don't know. Never really stopped to consider it. But I find the Rogue the most fun to play. My first run was as a Mage and I really enjoyed it, but the next time I played  a Rogue. I meant to go Warrior after that, but ended up doing two more Rogues and never did play a Warrior yet.

I like playing all three types of characters and usually start a new game with a warrior until I get to know the world and the mechanics. I tend to kind of rush in and start hitting things. *grin*

That being said, I'd have to say my most powerful character was my Primal specialist mage. This was the one who earned the achievement for learning all the Primal School spells.

I think my next best one was my rogue who discovered the wonderful world of poisons and bombs. I'd never experimented with them, but when I saw my dual-wielding rogue with poisoned blades handing out the same damage numbers I'd seen with my best sword and shield warrior, I became a believer. (That's a good tactic for Zevran too, btw. Set his tactics to use a good poison based off the condition of seeing the nearest enemy. Does amazing things.)

My third best playthrough was a sword and shield warrior who learned all the sword and shield talents. She was awesome, particularly with Starfang (in DA:O). I forget what weapon she switched off to before going into Awakening though I think it was Maric's blade. Yes, both those blades are from DLC.

Of course, I've enjoyed all my playthroughs for different reasons, but I think these are my top three. :)

The damage output of a properly built cunning rogue is ridiculous. I was laughing my ass off on that playthrough when I went with 2 cunning DW rogues (my city elf + Leliana) on Nightmare and all Elite Bosses were dying under 10 sec. There's just no comparison to warrior or mage, rogue just rules melee DPS by far.

Warriors are only good for tanking (dex based shield tanks to be precise). Mages can be many things, but I prefer them to crowd control, so that my rogues can auto-backstab with Coup De Grace.

Which class is most fun to play depends on the individual. However, mages are probably the most powerful of the three.

I much preferred playing a mage. I've tried to make other characters... I really have. My cousland rogue is past the deep roads and everything but the pure awesome power and control a mage offers... you just can't top it.

Stamina running out and not replenishing without potions (and not much at all in the original game) really kind of makes warriors and rogues mostly autoattack bots after you position them. That's just not fun.

If is simply DPS: Rogues, based on cunning build, followed by mages, then tanks.

Most fun.... depends on your way of playing.

I Played, 2 tanks, 1 mages, 1 rogue..... starting another tank :P

I suspect that mages can deal the most damage because of their AOE spells, but I don't really enjoy playing them, so a cunning rogue or a dual-wield warrior ends up being the most powerful character I can build.

Most powerful... I cant decide because it is situational.

Mages - most versatile

Rogues - most useful

Warriors - most typical

:P

Warrior is the most powerful class by far if you know what you're doing.

Your mage only beats your warrior because your warrior is not built/geared correctly. My dwarf warrior has 70% spell resistance. I destroy any mage effortlessly.

I disagree guys..

If the rogue has both longbow and duel weapons mages don't stand a chance..

Rogues can spam the mage with the long bow and heavily damage them if they have strong arrows then when the mages spells are in cooldown he can switch to his duel weapons and do all his spells. duel sweep, whirlwind ,assasin spells, punisher, cripple and riposte or pinpoint strike so the mage cannot heal then duel sweep again...and the mage is dead, deadly or deathly strike or low kick can be associated to increase,

mages are known for their low constitution(HP) so they might most probably die near the cripple part but I'm counting if they heal a couple of times and I'm not adding the archer spells so tha'ts how it is just like kingjezza wrote warrior>rogue, rogue>mage, mage>warrior

If you have that much spell resistance you'll be a snack for a rogue or another warrior
