...but...but... it's GARRUS. He helped bring down Sovereign, he helped bring down the Collectors, and he's sure as hell gunna help bring down Harbinger (unless you got him killed, but seriously, who the hell would let that happen? I mean, c'mon...).

Hmm... I didn't use Garrus to bring down Sovereign. I used Wrex and Liara and sometimes Ashley and Tali... Garrus spent most of the time on the Normandy fixing the mako.

Though if you take him with you on the last mission he always steals your kill fighting saren. Damn it garrus you kill stealer!

I like Garrus, I am sure he'll be in ME3 in some capacity. Shepard needs to be surrounded by people who have history with him/her. Garrus, Liara, Virmire Survivors, and yes, even Tali provide that history. To omit them completely would be a missed opportunity for continuity and an important element of the emotional arc for Shepard (Paragon AND Renegade).

IMO, Garrus and Tali are just a big a part of the ME trilogy as Shepard. So yes he should return and finish the trilogy.

I just think it would be strange to introduce a totally new crew at the climax of the ME trilogy. I wonder if people had debates like this over Return of the Jedi back in the day?

"Well, Han was frozen in carbonite, so I don't think he'll be coming back in Jedi. They'll probably introduce some new character to replace him."

Of course, they didn't have internet back then, so it was probably painted onto a cave wall or something.

Han was originally supposed to die in ESB...

My biggest debate ever in regards to Han Solo was that he really should have died at the end of Return of the Jedi. This view did not sit well with some people. The same is true for fans of any character in Mass Effect. They want these characters to live on, to be rewarded in some way for all the bull**** they were put through.

Personally, if the character has to be forced into the plot or the plot has to be altered to fit the character, I'd rather they just didn't do it. Let the story dictate what it's going to be.

Killing Han Solo off would have been cool.

In contrast, Greedo shooting first completely derailed Han's character design and made those "digitally enhanced" versions of episode 4 more of a joke than the entirety of episode 1.

(spoiler for thoose who hasent played through)

(and I want to apologize for any and all miss spelling ;) )

I remember the first time I meet Garrus. I dont know but I liked him from the beginning and when he joined the cause he has been a steady part in my group through out the entire game. And when Im on my way to Archangel and realise who that one infact is I got the biggest smile on my face and did I ever become worried when the gunship fired away.

When he later on told me what had happend and his feelings toward his lost party my feelings where that of revenge also. Might think what Garrus was doing on Omega is a bit rough but if you read the books David has writen, (at the moment Im reading Ascension and I really can recommend them if you want to know more) Omega isnt a nice place there the one with the biggest guns rule, Garrus is trying to do the best he can with what cards hes been delt.

Anyway ... kind of lost it here I see .... What Garrus is saying "You are the only friend I got left in this galaxy", is quite true I think. Dont know much about his life before C sec or the citadell, (Witch would go for a fantastic book dont you think David ;) ) and I really hope he will be back for ME3 and we will learn more about him.

As long as I stay in the Mass Effect Univers Garrus will be one of my most trusted, loyal and best friends.

There are many other characters I really would love to see in ME 3 beacuse I want to know what will happen with them, I want to see how they will develop and what course they will follow.

It will not be a mass effect game without Garrus, he is too important.

LotSB showed that there is a lot to Garrus that we still don't know. OP has kind of been repudiated on that front.

So yeah, "we" (I) want Garrus back for ME3.

if Tali and Garrus aren't squad mates in ME3 Bioware will huge made a huge mistake.

These two have the potential to be the only two who have been right by Shepard's side through all the games, both start out as friends and become potential love interests, we got to see them grow and change through 1 and 2, seeing what happens with them in 3 will make for a really solid anchor for the feel of the world. Plus it's a challenge to the writing team, writing the start of a relationship is easy compared to showing that relationship grow and evolve, something they avoided before by having previous love interests unavailable.

Tali and Garrus by your side through all three games, it's too good to pass up!

My canon playthrough in ME1 was with Garrus and Wrex, in ME2 with Garrus and Samara because that stupid Krogan had more important stuff to do than help me save the galaxy :'(

Garrus has always been my true second-in-command, the guy who gets the job done no matter what.

In ME2 he dealt with some deep stuff and I understand why he didn't have much to talk about. He wanted to be left alone. If BW decides to make him open up in ME3 about what happened in the previous games, that... that would be one of the greatest things in the series and an awesome character development.

Who's your favorite ME2 squaddie?

Luckily, they can be killed too.

Garrus never really inspired me at all, in either ME. I know there are players that love him, but I am in the camp of indifferent.

Meh, he can be there or not, it would not affect me either way.

Liara, maybe?

This is what I would guess. I've a little more to say about the matter in the group.

I love Garrus. He is easily my favorite character.

Because of this, I want him to go off on his own in ME3. I would rather get a meaningful and lengthy story mission with him and know he's out there helping Shep and fighting the good fight the still calibrating the frikin' forward batteries.

Let him grow into the badass we all want him to be.

Bring him back, but not as a party member. Make him a Spectre and have him lead a Turian platoon to help Shep in a crucial battle.

The same with other old party members - follow Wrex' and Liara's paths. Rather then leaving them on the Normandy worried about calibrations and stuff, they should evolve, play key roles in the final chapter of the saga. Shepard has shaped them and made them strong, now it's their time to shine. Cooperating with Shepard, but, at the same time, being on their own. From followers to major players in the last conflict.

Even though I paragon'd Garrus in ME1 I didn't feel slighted when he went down the renegade path . I take Shepard’s absence into consideration, how her death could have affected him, how angry Garrus was at the way things got swept under the carpet after her death. Despite the obvious change in his persona he at least tried to follow Shep's paragon advice in the beginning (he did go back to C sec) and even though he went all vigilante he still managed to follow her good example at least, he helped people, made sure there weren't any civilian casualties. I accept the reasons he turned out the way he did but do I wish the paragon influence was emphasised a bit more? Of course I do, just like how I wished giving tali that data would give me more than a line of dialogue. They could have had a more significant amount of dialoge when you talk about the saleon incident but there you go.

However I really think we should see a “result” of our influence in ME3, there shouldn’t be any more character moulding in the next instalment, at least on Garrus’s part. This is a best way to finalize his arc IMO, allowing Garrus to finally make an important decision/s without your input or guidance anymore. Your prior choices should make Garrus lean one way or the other In ME3, that way it will make your ME1 influence actually have some meaning this time around. I would also enjoy a moment where Garrus challenges Shepards decisions for once. A bit of role reversal in their relationship, Garrus always trusts Shepard’s choices but it would be interesting to have an instance where Garrus objects to a command or decision. Nothing too hostile but enough to remind Shepard that Garrus might not always be his/her permanent sidekick and that he can think for himself. Also, letting Garrus be team leader during the suicide mission was wonderful, he has the ability to be a great leader and I would like to see another instance where Garrus is put in a leadership position.

So yes, I really want Garrus to return, its a shame he got a bit shafted in the dialogue department and yes your prior influence should have been more important but I truly hope these two issues get fixed for him in ME3, he deserves it.

Of course I want to see Garrus return in full force. Not get the Liara treatment or Wrex or Kaidan/Ashley treatment. He's already developed into a badass and he's already stated he isn't interested in joining the Spectre program. The devs have freed him up from previous responsibilities (csec and spectre program were nullified for him in me2) and he is one of the handful with both the ability and the drive to help Shepard see the mission through. Let's see him reveal more of his character in ME3 and bid adieu to attempting to mold his personality (a power we never really had beyond sharing our opinions).

Garrus is one of the more iconic characters of the Mass Effect series. He is one of only two characters to return as a squaddie in the second game and removing him from the third game would be pointless and a slap in the face.
