I wonder if Hawke will have a kid by the end. If they started right into the romances it would certainly be feasible, considering the ten year time frame. It would certainly give the player a bigger personal stake if it was done correctly. Case in point: Fable 2 is a mostly mediocre game, but I can't think of a situation in any game I've played that had me more frantic than when hobbes abduct your kid. I absolutely tore through that cave...shame it was a cave you've already visited earlier in the game. I think the Bioware treatment of such a plot element would be nothing short of fantastic.

Could be quite interesting, given the timeframe and all of that. They already did something similar with BG2 (and I think they should improve on it if they chose to go that route  - it was more awkward than anything at the time). I would hope, though, that it would be completely optional.

I wonder how it will be implemented if it is in the game. If the kid doesn't look like my character then he will probably end up stabbing Varric.

Look interesting, I guess. However, I can picture a woman having Hawke's baby when he's in a adventure, but what if this woman is a party member or if the player is using Lady Hawke?

Also, I'm starting to think that nobody in Dragon Age universe get pregnant and everybody is Flemeth son.

Oh god that quest in Fable 2 was about the only one i ever properly enjoyed! Its a helluva thing to come home to your hawt zombie wife only to be told your kid is off to be a gweat adwenturer like his dawd.

Freaking hobbes never stood a chance. Bioware could do something like that but 10x better

its one think if they implement that into the game and into the plot if having a kid is a forced decision and the only option is with who. If it is optional to have a kid then I highly doubt it will be a big part of the game. I would much rather if it was done be done for every play through, that way it is a consistent plot line.

Im guessing and betting Hawke's sister is in game to carry on the Hawke Lineage albiet under a different name (I hope). All this is speculation and it is quite fun!

I'd see a lot of abuse with this. Sleeping with a romance option, get her pregnant then dump her and go with somebody else. Repeat until every female romance has your child.

The way I  envision that being handled is just them pulling a standard frame narrative trick. I doubt the player will experience the entire ten years; the scope of that is too huge. There would need to be a convenient gap of about a year, the blanks of which could be filled in by Varrick.

Well there will timeskips in the game due to the framed narrative.

The real reason Cassandra is looking for Hawke is because he disappeared and stopped paying child support.

That's what happens when you ask Oghren for romantic advice.

Hahah, I was the same with that mission in Fable 2.

And Hawke having a kid is an interesting concept that I wish would be made into the game. But, I doubt it can be because of what Dave of Canada said. There could be too many babyHawkes running around.

How's Hawke gonna pay for all the child support?
But, an army of Hawke's kids would be unstoppable. Hm.

I'm really intrigued by the possibilities with the longer period of time. There's a lot of cool stuff Bioware can do with this that previous games' structures simply couldn't accomodate.

Waste of sperm? Well what else are you going to spend it on? In fact, don't answer that. I think the social network has met it's quota for creepy in the past few days.

What else are you going to use it for?

Anyways, I don't think Dragon Age needs to emulate Fable or The Sims for that matter.  Unless having a child could be intigrated into the storyline in a meaningful way.  But having a kid as female Hawke is out of the question.  Would conflict with killing/questing!

As for Fable, maybe III will make up for past blunders and empty promises. :innocent:
