also, having your child interact with your party members could be an opportunity for comedic and party banter gold.

I hope Hawke doesn't have a child, that would just be an excuse to repeat the Hawke family as the main character in DA 3. It would be cool for a story to start a family but I really want character creation options back in DA 3.

I really like the idea.

Ten years is a long time and if Hawke has a love interest it almost seems unrealistic that they wouldn't have a child together sometime over that span, whether intentional or accidental. Of course we have no idea how the plot plays out nor when love interests are available, so there might actually be some very obvious reasons why Hawke would be childless that we don't know about yet. That, or it might just be too large a task for Bioware to implement. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see. If they could pull it off well, however, I think it would raise some very interesting roleplaying possibilities.

Edit: I seem to remember reading somewhere that Bioware took the middle ground and half dwarves were more like taller dwarves... or something. I could be wrong.

that's another thing, being able to teach your kid the stuff you've learned through the years.

apart from fable 2, the only game i can remember playing in which the main character married, had a kid and then continued his quest with his warrior wife/rival were maxim and selan from lufia 2 for the super nintendo.

Indeedy. It has a lot of potential for both hilarious and touching scenes.

I'm in the middle of an Awakening playthrough. This title brought to mind a completely different type of 'child' :P

being a parent in a rpg is something that has lots of potential mostly due to the fact of how pratically untouched the subject is. i'd love it if bioware explored more on this since they said family is a very important theme in DA2 and let's face it, what a more powerful theme of family than to start your own?

Well, if they had to remove content for the sake of mods.. they'd have to remove a lot of content from the game.

I am fine with being a parent in an RPG, as long as that RPG does not turn into a parenting simulator.

Would be interesting but I see it's flaws.

One of it's flaws is dealing with the annoying Little Oren voice.
