what's your take on this "being a parent in a rpg thing" dave?

Would be interesting but I see it's flaws.

One of it's flaws is dealing with the annoying Little Oren voice.

Dave will you bring me back a sword?

oren always gave me a chuckle with that one, his voice is to be expected after all we're talking about a 5yr old or a 10yr old at most.

I don't know, it was pretty annoying. It didn't sound like a "cute kid" voice to me. I was kind of more annoyed at every kid in the game having the *exact same face*. Creepy.

I've heard far worse than Oren, but I see your point.

as for who can take care of him/her while your party is in battle... don't you think hawke's mother or the templar's wife could be perfect for that?
returning to kirkwall knowing your child is well protected (seriously the mother and wife shown in DA2 kick ass)

as for his/her voice, yeah it can improved and that's what our feedback in the forums are for  if we're lucky the developers will take notice of this.

I really love the idea of Hawke having a child or many children, if that happens it could get really interesting. Specially if Hawke`s child is a daughter, then when she grow up she could get together with the "God Child" of Morrigan, that I think would be a great story for Dragon Age 3. :)

since dragon age is to tell stories of thedas, i think that is unlikely for DA3 we'll probably go to orlais or antiva or other section of the continent, but a cameo of previous characters is certainly a possiblity.

Life must be very painful for Fergus, seeing his dead kid everywhere. My favorite Oren is the one who can only say "puppy!".

Depending on how the plot plays out, this could obviously be an issue. So far we know that Hawke rises to power, however, and becomes the Champion of Kirkwall. This coupled with the fact that DA2 takes place over a ten year span makes me suspect Hawke will have some kind of permanent residence and likely more than one trusted individual who could watch over his/her child while he/she is away. I'm not saying that this is an ideal way to raise a family, of course, but it's do-able.

I think it's unlikely that Bioware would include all of this, but nevertheless, I still like the idea.

Well certinaly Dragom Age focus is on the world itself, but even then I think the children could get together and travel around together, if not be enemies. As to have the "God Child" evil and Hawke`s child good, well it could be different but you get the point XD. And as we allready know, Flemeth will play a part in Dragon Age 2, who knows...perhaps there is more to it.

And all their actions could have an impact on the world, parhaps bringing war to different realms and so on through mistakes or speech, the evil one causing trouble while the good one trying to solve them.

the reason i said they would only be cameos at best in DA3 is because not everyone did the dark ritual and not everyone would choose to have a child in DA2, putting them up as main characters while appeasing a number of people like yourself it would also more than likely ****** off the players that didn't make those decisions. that's why their best position in future games are in as cameos or extra sidequests.

but let's get back on topic shall we?

The more I think about it the more I like the idea of Hawke having a child. I got really sad when Alistair told my Grey Warden that they would probably never have children. Of course they should make it optional like for example your LI says something about children and depending if Hawke says something like "Oh, I would love to have childen on day" or "No, it nothing for me" will determine if we see a child in the game or not.

Like other people are saying: children would be a great idea. It would open a whole new level of intimacy with your LI, and open up a whole bunch of great party banter :D
Plus......I want little Hawke babies running around, and have them tick off the grouchiest member of the party.^_^

kid: are you a qun'ari?
qun'ari party member(qun for short XD): no
kid: but you look like one, horns and everything
qun: being qun'ari is a belief, i am no longer part of the qun.
kid: why?
qun: because i chose to follow hawke
kid: why?
qun: i'll talk about this matter no more
kid: why?
qun: i hate children.

why do you want hawke to have a kid?

it's like the fan girls asking bioware for warden and Alistair to have children...

why the heck do you want to complicate things and turn it into a dating sim?

if you want to play happy families may I point out Ea made a game called the sims

maybe because it adds more depth to the characters and empowers the theme of family bioware is trying to portray in DA2?
maybe because it has potential?
maybe because it's a barely explored subject in rpgs?

Because it's an RPG and children would add more to the role playing?
