Hi there. this is my first post.

I've been playing mass effect 2 happily for the past few months. i happen to dual boot, so i have the game installed on a separate partition from windows (E: instead of C:). Yesterday i reinstalled windows, ingeniously thinking that ME2 would still work because the files are there. instead it keeps telling me to reinstall the game. the only problem is that my second cd is halfway across the world (i came to the US for college). is there anyway i could reinstall without the second disc? I have my cd key with me,  but only one of the discs.

Get the digital copy by using EA Download Manager which can be found on www.ea.com website. Search the forum posts to learn how it works. Make sure your system drive have enough space (13GB+), since as for Steam which downloads and installs games on default system drive (normally C:).

The reason that why leaving games on different partition of a hard drive does not work after reinstall OS:

The game needs to write entries into system's Registry (Windows series, located on system drive) to be identified wheras a reinstalled Windows system does not recognize the game. This is same for other software except those can run without installing or so-called "Green Software".

:wizard:Do NOT do anything to Windows Registry if you know little to nothing about it, as doing so may result in another reinstallation. :wizard:
