So. I had a character turning 180 degrees then talking. I split the animation after the turn and extended the facing forward part as far as I needed it to go. The problem is, any animation I put after that makes the character turn 90 degrees (inexplicably). I tried putting a keyframe in at the correct orientation, but that doesn't work either, just makes more of a wrong turn. Boy, do I ever wish these things were broken doen into smaller movements, but since that's not the case, does anyone have any suggestions? If an animation turns a character, how do you make them stay that way?

Have you set GAD - "extend beyond action" and "apply rotation to all future GADs" both to true?

Nope, 'cause I didn't know about these GADs of which you speak.
now that you mention it, I remember them from the instructions on importing dara into 3D Max.... Where do you set these?

If you select the animation in the timeline, there are some options like "Enable GAD" and "Extend GAD Beyond Animation" in the object inspector etc. Try playing around with those.

Thanks! That did the trick.
