For reference: I am using windows 7, I have updated to patch 1.04, and I've never had any other problems downloading and installing DLC with Dragon age before this.

Whenever I try to install "The Golems of Amgarrak" and the corresponding "Golem's Might" DLCs for Origins and awakening from the menu, it says installing and then goes red, and the status says "install failed".  I've tried manually installing via DAUpdater, and I have uninstalled and reinstalled my game with no results.  I cleared the download cache and have downloaded the DLC itself multiple times, but I continue to get "Install failed" after it extracts and starts to install.

My suspicion is that the patch isn't "sticking"--It has 1.04 in red next to "required game version" under details of the golems of amgarrak.  I've installed the patch multiple times though with no luck.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

just try retrying, I had a few fail today and when I restarted the game or hit retry they started at where they left off and continued.

The problem is that it fully finishes downloading, and when it gets to the install phase it trys to install for a couple seconds before coming up with "install failed" next to "status"....

I've tried restarting and retrying more times than you'd think, and its at the point where, well, Einstein put it best--"Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is insanity."

I'm having the same problem. I'm glad someone decided to break the handling of DLC; all those other bugs were getting so boring...

Hahahah well I have the answer. I tried customer service, this forum, and everything else, and I found it in the most unlikely place. After an extensive google search, I found the answer at none other than "The Pirate Bay", a torrent website. Here is what I found:

""ATTENTION: If you are getting an error while installing the DLC, it is most likely caused by a corrupt AddIns.xml.

Navigate to where it is located and delete both it AND Manifest.xml. You will need to reinstall the Awakenings expansion (if you have it) and any previous DLC. This should solve your problem. A simpler way to do this without having to install everything again is to make sure the encoding of AddIns.xml is set to UTF-8 rather than deleting the two XMLs.""

I just deleted the addins.xml and manifest.xml under settings in the Dragon Age folder of my documents, and I'm now in the process of reinstalling all the DLC. Golems of Amgarrak is one of the first I tried, and it is now installed.

So ya, thanks pirate bay. The irony is almost unbearable.

(Relevant to the following, possibly: XP SP3, quad core proc, 3gb RAM, a Return of the Jedi collector's tin pressed into use as a mere pencil holder, a large bottle of Ibuprofen, all-black components, an outdated mouse [only seven buttons?!], a persistent nagging cough, and no direct sunlight, ever.)

What worked for me: I exited the game -- probably an important step -- and deleted the "dao_prc_gib" folder under My Documents\\\\\\Bioware\\\\\\Dragon Age\\\\\\Addins\\\\\\ ; then I started the game back up and let it download the thing again. It showed a successful install and I felt an uncharacteristic urge to say "squee."

Suppressing any unseemly squeeing, I still had the Golem's Might blah blah blah for O and A in the downloading list continuing to show red and proclaiming failure in every way imaginable (which is odd, as they were listed in the installed content list at the same time). Exit out, open up Configure from the launcher, select Repair, and clear download cache. Load game, check list -- which still takes forever to update, thank you so very much EA/Bioware -- and see that the downloading list is cleared, with the items in question in the installed list.

Now that I have it working, it's all downhill from here. I've peaked as a human being. Pass the shotgun.

Had the same issue described by the OP. Or very similar. All DLC was fine and dandy until Steam updated the client. After the update the same module started failing to install, although it was actually installed.

Tried "slipping_away" 's suggestion ("Clear Download Cache") and worked a treat. Thanking you :)
