Again, what point? A game made by some people isn't serious. Why does it mean another game made by different people can't be more serious than that? When movies and books have been doing it for years and ages, your complaint comes across like simple inability to cope with things being broader than you expect them to be.Rubbish Hero wrote...
Big point made, very obvious factually correct.

But back on subject I think its awesome the same writing team is working on DA2. In an RPG you can forgive alot of things if the story and writing is excellent. I am excited about DA2 but if some of the changes dont work out atleast it will have the same quality writing and character dialogue.

As some have pointed out, I have a team of writers that work with me to create the story and the dialogue, but I'll happily accept any compliments on behalf of the group.
The writing for Dragon Age is far and away what makes the game so... magical, So clearly heads and shoulders above the story-lines of any other game I've played in years and years. If, as you say, you and the same team are going to do the story/character writing for DA:2, then this is probably the Clincher for me when it comes to deciding whether or not I'll be buying DA2.

I think the whole writing team did a damn good job with Origins. Never before have I seen a better written game. It also had a good cohesion of themes, which is again a mark of good writing. Honestly, the writing was so good in Origins it seems like utter lunacy to be worried about DA2. Mr. Gaider is an excellent writer though, and I fully intend to fly to Canada and propose to him at some point.

There were several hints that Morrigan and/or Flemeth had a hidden agenda, not so out of the blue even if you didn´t know the agenda itself. By the way, it was a Deus Sex Machina.AndrahilAdrian wrote...
With the exception of the blatant Deus ex Machina that was Morrigan's out-of-the-blue dark ritual, Dragon Age was the best plotted game I have ever played (backhanded compliments are my specialty). The characters had depth. The unverse was a good blend of tried and true fantasy tropes and innovation, perticularly the complex relationship between magic and religion. The romantic subplots were actually fleshed out, unlike the elongated hookups of Mass Effect. The main story was very well done, perticularly the political maneuvering (Orzummar and the landsmeet were the best parts of the game). The protagonist could develop an actual personality, beyond just generic good and evil, based on the origin you chose, the choices you make, and the dialogue options you select. So yeah, the OP is onto something.

To be fair, Morrigan's ritual wasn't really a Deus Ex Machina. The timing of it made sense (right before the battle), her reasoning for not telling you about the whole "soul obliteration" deal made sense and the reveal that this is why Flemeth sent her with you was more of a "Ah, I get it. That makes sense!" than a "Lol, how contrived" moment.
Yeah, but I offed Flemeth. Why is Morrigan carrying on her mother's master plan to become an old god? And if Morrigan is working with Flemeth in this scheme, why did she get me to kill Flemeth? Is she going to try to possess the child herself? Morrigan didn't strike me as hardcore evil, just ruthless. Possessing her own child would be very out of character. And why does she have to bugger off after the battle? Why can't she stick around and let me raise our son with her? And what kind of dark ritual is this, anyway? It is never explained how Morrigan knew it, or how it fits into DA's established magic system? And why does she bugger off immedietly if you refuse her? Is she so petty that she leaves just before the battle we have been working towards for Maker knows how many months? Morrigan never struck me as petty, so this too was very out of character. In short the whole thing stank of Deus sex machina designed to give the PC a way out of sacrificing themselves for Awakening's sake, provide a half baked conclusion to the Morrigan romance arc, and dare I say add one more "sex scene" to provide added fanservice before the game's conclusion.
P.S. This rant does not change the fact that Dragon Age had the best video game story and was the best video game of all time, and that Bioware generally kicks ass.

Deus Sex Machina is one of my favorite plot devices.
"Crap, we're screwed! how do we get out of this predicament?"
"With more screwing, of course."
"Brilliant!"
And thus the Nasuverse was born.

Is it really just Morrigan carrying on her "mothers" plan? Again Flemeth is a long term thinker and was never seemed to worried about the blight, archdemon, the warden, or what Logahin was up to. Again if you "kill" Flemeth she seems very unworried about you meaning her ill. For some one as old, wise and powerfull as she is that seems a little odd. Those type of characters rarley every take their impending doom so gracefully.
Hardecore evil and ruthless is avery thin line in my opinion. Just saying.
I dunno when I denied helping her with the dark ritual she slinks off like theres something else she really needs to take care off and then in the ending cards there she is again slinking off. No Morrigan never struck me as petty but she never struck me as stupid. Stupid as in sticking around after doing something you allready objected too. Remember in one of her conversations she does admit that she can shapeshift into other humanoids but it requires her to know the person she is shifting into (well enough to imitate them) and "has never felt the need to do it before".
Just playing devils advocate. I have said it before (in other threads). DAO the DLCS and the expansion all felt like we were just getting our toes wet in this universe. Getting intrduces to the lore, races, politics, and characters that seem to have a bigger role in the world then one would first think.

Cause from her POV preserving the untainted soul of an old god is a good thing even if she's not doing it for evil reasons.
