I've recently just reinstalled NWN2 after not playing it for the last year or so and this is what I got.

Certainly looks like a video driver problem. Recent Nvidia drivers have had issues, but the latest fixed things. I would suggest making sure you have the latest drivers.

I did an update through device manager and it said all was up to date. I was thinking the same thing. Last time I played NWN2 was on an older gfx card now I've got a new GTX 260 installed.

doing a bit more digging and there does seem to be an update, I'll try it and see what happens.

Yes, Nvidia borked up a few drivers recently. Among problems like this one, some cards were fried apparently because the driver didn't give the right speed settings to the cooling fan and they overheated.

If you allowed Microsoft to supply a driver, you are likely to be six months to a year behind by doing so.  For game players, whether you have a recent card and want the latest drivers, or you have an older card and need to roll back to something older, always go directly to the source.  Skip the MS offerings.

Update both driver AND DirectX just to be sure. I had a similar thing to that which got fixed by updating.
