I've seen Selene saying that, also.  What's funny is that several of the newest nVIDIA drivers have literally BROKEN other games for some Geforce cards, such as the 7n00s and 8n00s.  

When I had to reinstall my 20" CRT, after one of my 19" LCDs failed, I could no longer see anything much on many of the Legacy forums, and was already very put out with Stanley, so I dropped visiting the blue on black places, going only to Mass Effect, and occasionally to kotOR there (decent color schemes on those).  I also stopped playing NWN2 then, although it's still installed, and it still will run, if I get the urge to run it. 

So is the problem the fact that NWN2 is just pixel shader SM2, and not SM3?

Pretty sure the 'problem' has more to do with Nvidia than NWN2 actually.

That could be the problem, or NVIDIA's history of issues with backwards compatibility with their older hardware that is still viable and still in use.

When the 8 and 9n00 cards came out, there were problems with the drivers for the 6 and 7n00 cards until NVIDIA corrected the issues. So, while it is a possibility of being SM2 vs. SM3, the most obvious suggestion is the driver compatibility with the self same cards the drivers are supposed to support.

NVIDIA has a history of issues with various series of drivers they have published, and have eventually corrected over a period of months with later driver releases.

Just today, I am seeing several messages that relate a Microsoft Update to a sudden, massive loss of performance for Geforce 8n00 and 9n00 video cards versus Dragon Age and Mass Effect.  If true, it may also affect NWN2, and my question might be better with a reworded subject line, and edited original message, then moved to the NWN2 Tech Forum.

nvidia drivers have broken nwn2 for me. the graphics are borked. I can play ME2, DA2 and SC2 fine though. Too bad I want to play NWN2

Update to the current drivers, as the problem was fixed.
