He wasn't able to do what he wanted with NWN2, so he comes and bash it hard and claim it is dead (who cares about NWN2 when DAO is out ?).

He won't probably be able to do what he wants with DAO for DAO specific problem that didn't exists in NWN2. DAO solved problem but got some other :) Nothing is all white or black. And when he'll realise it he's going to bash it in the same way, until he'll understand that we have to work with what we have.

I really loved that work of JasonNH, so I loaded back DAO. And DAO lightning is sure is really bad. There is also a blur effect that I don't like at all. Some blueprint model looks really bad. Basically DAO landscape isn't as good as NWN2 (mostly beceause of lightning and that nasty blur effect), but character model, animation, creature are really good :), and the heads animation are really fine as well.

But some poeple only see the Bioware tag, they can't admit that it isn't an evolution but something with different feature. They don't want to admit that DAO miss some key feature to replace NWN2.

If you want to do things that are out of the DAO feature, you don't have the choice, you need to use something else than DAO. Even if it has the awesome Bioware label printed on it.

With few monster and many restriction the DAO toolset isn't as open as NWN2 for what you can do. It's really DAO specific. So for poeple who wants to do project that aren't tied to DAO setting, using a more open toolset for those aspect isn't a stupid decision at all. there is also the problem of almost no support from bioware for the DAO toolset. For NWN2 we got something really stable and powerfull now, with not many broken feature. It has becomme a really good platform.  DAO isn't yet at this stage, and the lack of official support is a cold shower for those who hope that the DAO platform reach that maturity level one day.

It's possible to work with a platform that isn't at maturity, but it require more work and more attention to do it. Basically it's not something open to everyone. NWN2 beeing at maturity (finally) you don't have to deal with those compatibility problem.
But For DAO you may have trouble beetween those who got the XP1 and the other, or even those who got some DLC and the others. It's not something impossible to solve, but it's clearly something difficult to do correctly.

I'd vote for outlived it's use, but that would imply it ever had any.

And some people can't see that the DA toolset wasn't intended to replace a D&D based multiplayer toolset; it has features that, while not revolutionary (TES and Fallout 3 have similar features in their toolsets), are evolutionary in that they free those that want to use them from the restrictions that exist in NWN and NWN2.

I'm with Kamal on this one. I've posted several, I believe, concilliatory posts on the subject(as, really, there's not much value in discussing why individuals mod one thing or another--especially when it is handled with less than acceptable tact).
