Since when did musical appreciation prevent suicide? Artists, writers, and musicians are actually more likely to have mental problems leading to suicide, not less: current psychology research has been studying a lot of the potential link between exceptional/extraordinary creativity and mental disorders.

Not to mention that it's hard to find any number of musicians who've committed suicide, if you just start looking.


During the game itself, Leliana isn't a suicide risk. (Except, possibly, if you dump her unhardened after a serious relationship.) She has something to focus on in a healthy manner. Before the game, and after the game if unhardened, are different things.
