No doubt it will eventually come to this. EA seems to be willing to make as much ME games while the gamers are still interested. I have no doubt that it was their idea to turn it from a trilogy to a full-blown game franchise.

Damn Mida.... i hope that you are wrong because the day Bioware turns ME in to a run of the mill FPS shooter
it is game over for them as far as i'm concerned

EDIT: i have no problem wit the franchise thing just don't  tun it into an online fragfest

The franchise is too valuable to leave it at a trilogy. There's so much story still in this amazing universe. It would be a win-win situation for them and the players, if they continued to make great games in it.

Unfortunately, right now it seems to me the next games will be more like the usual mindless action games. Much easier and quicker to produce, and as bizarre as it is, seems to sell better. EA being EA, how could they resist that temptation?

I didn't say that Bioware would make an ME FPS. EA's got a crapload of studios to do that for them, though I get the feeling that EA is planning to turn the Bioware studios into their Mass Effect/Dragon Age game production mill, with the studio working on TOR being the exception for now.

Agreed, i only hope the do resist to do that with something Unique as the ME games, but i do have little doubt there will be more ME after  ME3
i only hope it will not be  mindless shooter stuff

I think you can say the same about other games Bioware has made. Jade Empire had a lot of stuff that could be further explored in another game, but they probably didn't because the game didn't sell as well as they wanted. Now they've got this marketing machine called EA which can make look anything the coolest thing in the universe while it actually is just average or for a niche group. That is where the ME series is eventually gonna end I think if they keep making games for it too long.

FPS? No, no, no, no, no. Just no. If it changes I hope its an RTS game. And if you want multiplayer for it, BW should look towards games like Army of Two and Splinter Cell Conviction. They're well made, and not so focused on competitive game modes, and more on objective ones. It would keep all the RPG aspects while still having a very intense and fun experience.

Probably the reason why they've got a new PC for DA2. Bioware maybe wanted to make a sequel out of it, but didn't have any plans to do so. Bioware's strength is (or maybe was) creating an original IP with every game. Dragon Age: Origins was the last IP they've launched and back in the pre-EA days they'd already announced a new game with a new IP already by now.

BW  has stated in an interview on the DA wiki boards(at Gamescon) that they changed the PC because many people had done the US and it was too difficult to bring back the warden in a believable manner for the people who done the US

EDIT : here's the link to the interview with Mike

Actually, the next ME series should be a squad-based, turn-based tactical game along the lines of Jagged Alliance.

i'm not so sure if they had not planned a second gamesince the ending slides suggest a continuation of the story
but you could be correct,.
but then why change everything in the game remains a mystery

The Mass Effect universe has so much potential for new and exciting games after the current trilogy is over. To use that potential on something so generic as a first person shooter would be an utter waste. But seeing at how every second game these days seems to be a FPS, and EA being the way they are, a ME first person shooter is probably what'll happen at some point.

A Jade Empire sequel?  Love to see that happen, but I won't hold my breath Image IPB

Sad. I guess I'll just have to focus on the good times me and Furious Ming shared together.

As a console player who really can't get to grips with FPS it'd mean no more ME for me. As it is, I only buy games if they are TP, and that wouldn't change.
