I never realized until now that pickpocket failure could have some dire effects. In the elven camp, if you try and steal from one of the characters (even with maxed out pickpocket I failed) the merchant will not trade with you. Fortunately I had a save game handy to reload.

Are there any other instances where failed theft can bite you in the arse ?
