They shouldn't add it if doesn't fit within the story. His whole the family is white so how the hell is he going to be black?AngryFrozenWater wrote...
If BioWare wants to reach that 10 million copies then the only logical thing they can do is to have better character customization to allow more players to identify with the main character. Female players will probably want to play as a female. Non-caucasians are likely to want to play as someone close to how they look. Some effort in that area will make a lot of people happy and I bet that it improves sales as well.
That's more an inability to realistically create the skin tones then being unable to play as someone "black."Saibh wrote...

Some tones were indeed in the CC.
I'd disagree...I can't remember who, but someone aptly described them as really bad sunburns. They don't look right.
what's YOUR point? obviously you're going to be able to play as a female so why even say that? they don't need improvements there because you already can play as a female...AngryFrozenWater wrote...

Good point. In that case BW has to put in some more effort than just a better character generator if they want to reach non-caucasian characters AND make the story believable.atheelogos wrote...

Frivolous thread is frivolous, but in the previous game, I wanted the Warden to look like me. But an African American skin tone was impossible no matter how much I played around with the character creator. Thus, I was wondering if it'd be possible in Dragon Age 2.

"Rivain is likely an allegory for Islamic Spain -- also known as the
Cordoba Caliphate, a medieval hotbed of art, science, and (in many ways)
multiculturalism before the Reconquista by Catholic Spanish nobility --

There are indeed black people in Thedas-- the Rivaini have skin tones
ranging from dark tan to ebony. You'll find them scattered in various
places.
All that aggression. Hehe. I've added that sentence to show that female characters are already possible and that most of us already accept that. The next step is to include other groups. Caucasians are a minority in the world population. So if BW wants to reach that 10 million copies they have to work for reaching that larger audience.hoysexyjew wrote...

No I'm not. Sry I sound that way though. I'm just a little frustrated that people want to do things that have nothing to do with story or the lore. It would be a game breaking move imo. But again I'm not mad.AngryFrozenWater wrote...

Would be nice, I agree, however I had the same problem with Oblivion.
No matter how hard I tried I couldn't make a decent white feller (aka; Irish American, German American, British American, Italian American, and on and on).
Though I was quite content with my badass Redguard.

Here's a simple solution to the matching family skin color problem: Just make the family match the player's look. Can't be too hard and certainly not impossible to do.

Please stop calling white people caucasian. It's absolutely wrong. It's just as bad as "African American" and whatnot. Stop it.
EDIT: And in Fallout 3, you had to actually choose your race on the character selection screen. I could just imagine the complaints we'd see when only 4-5 races were listed and everyone else felt excluded. Bad idea.
