Yes. That's kinda what overt means. Out in the open for everyone to see.
Out of curiousity, what did you think I was saying?
I am thinking it is too late for me to listen to my brain and some definations got mixed up in there.
Will DA2's current marketing campaign appeal at all to new female players.

Not when the character they'll be playing feels like the same male lead they see in all those B-List summer movies.
Which he isn't or at least doesn't have to be and that's part of the problem. He's a recycled archetype meant to appeal to the imagined male drive for high adventure romance and war.
You mean the parts you could only get if you had some knowledge of the series going in?
I'm just trying to figure what you could possibly be talking about. As we've both agreed the trailer is meant for men and I've gone on to speculate as to what in men they're trying to appeal to. I want to know what it is you meant by that line.
Which seemed to imply that you think what I said is negated because you feel that the protagonist is a tired cliche. And I don't agree with this attempt of negating all of what I said because of the protagonist. Not when the character they'll be playing feels like the same male lead they see in all those B-List summer movies.

I believe in something when that thing is right. It is know for a fact that there aren't 100% accurate researches. Nobody has ever gone to your house to ask you something about a research. Magic=/=Science.Anarya wrote...

Can't we just agree that while male gamers are still the majority, female gamers are a large and not-insignificant segment (who do more shopping than guys anyway)?
The exact breakdown isn't important and definitely not worth arguing over.
Wait, what? I, um....hm. Interesting viewpoint. Do you not believe in science or something?

I have been called "TO TAKE PART IN AN IMPORTANT SURVEY" before.
Does that count?

Actually people come to my house all the time wanting to ask me stuff for research or statistics or whatever (they call this canvassing). But that's neither here nor there.
Just because studies have an error margin doesn't mean they're worthless or inaccurate. You're just being silly now.

I fully realize that by responding to this quote, I'm on thin ice because I'm not a female.
That probably should have been a red flag for you walking into this. I took a lot of deep breadths before posting and I spend a lot of time around feminist issues.
you also start off with a straw man which is no way to go.
But I don't think that you should be worrying about if females are in a game just so they can be in a game.
No one said this I don't think but believe it or not the more exposed you are to a minority in active roles the more comfortable you become with them and prejudices tend to recede. It helps everyone out.
Let's focus on Arkham Asylum. You play as BATMAN, an already established MALE CHARACTER. You just proved that you're the stereotype you are saying that you are not.
I honestly don't think you know what we've been arguing about or maybe I missed something back there somewhere.

sorry didn't mean to be spiteful. but I think cnet, nielson and the esa are the best sources you really hope for.
But what I saw (I didn't see all of them, only like two of your sources) were concerning online games, this also includes small online games like Mafia Wars and Farmville that have a largely female demographic. I'm not saying that they shouldn't do trailers and such for female gamers, the stats you've linked are from a demographic who wouldn't even touch a controller without being confused.

You don't buy a Batman game thinking you can play as someone other than Batman. Even if there is an option for Batwoman, it's still called BATMAN.
