I think that companies are beginning to market more to females....however, unfortunately they only seem to market games like Sims, DS puzzle games, and exercise games like EA active and Wii fit.

It's evident from going into Gamestop.  Their entire Nintendo wall is filled with games aimed at girls/women.

You know what though? The person I know who spends the most by far at Gamestop is my sister, who buys all those crappy games (and plays Farmville).

My kid sister was the same way for the longest time. I think out mother had sorta conditioned her into liking all that 'girly' stuff and she'd always ask for the really dumb games clearly targeted at little girls.

Then one day she see's me playing GTA III and asks if she can play. I say it's single player and she gets all sad, says ok and goes back to playing with her barbie. I start feeling all guilty and say but I'm done anyway and hand her the control. Not suprisingly she doesn't make it very far before the police stop and arrest her. (I think she liked the driving sim aspect of the game and misttok it for some kind of cartoonish violent racer.) She gets annoyed but keeps playing. A few weeks later and she's basically playing all the same games me and my brother are (pretty broad collection with my brother's lame ass sports games and me and my totally gay jrpgs) and doesn't even touch her dolls unless one of her friends comes over. Hell I think I may have picked up the habit of punctuating my sentences with 'b*tch' from her.

Moral of the story, my sister is a closet sociopath. Or something. I really should get some sleep. Oh well I have to be up in 3 hours anyway.

I've always found playing extremely violent video games relaxing.

Now I throw Facebreaker under the bus because I have played that.

I have not played ET or Goonies in the arcade

I assure the gameplay in Facebreaker, well. The gameplay proves those studies of violence in gamers in in fact correct.

Probably the hardest AI in a fighting game ever due to how the AI reads every button press and counters.

The japanese man that came up with that game should be shot and dragged through the streets.

Well, you know, this is kind of normal for the boys over there....

Sadly, it's a very repressed and oppressive culture... but that's how it is.

The Japanese lack "souls".

I have the "statistics" to prove it.

Yeah, and the continue system did not help out matters at all.

I mean a game that simple with an AI like that is going to be a disaster for most players because it isn't very flexible.  Hell the AI in the Mortal Kombat games would cheat, but after awhile it would become obvious what to do in order to beat it.  Not really a good thing because an AI should never react to button presses in that way, but there was an out.  I never could figure out what the hell to do in Facebreaker because of the asctetics and how the game played.

And to think it was marketed as a casual game.  Wtf, you can button mash to success in the Fight Night games, what the hell was facebreaker trying to accomplish?  O_o

Did this thread go from a battle of the sexes to something that looks rather like flirting in just 15 pages?

Garrus has that effect on people.

Yes, yes he does.  I can say that from experience.  And polls.  But as we have now been educated about the reliability of such things, I suppose I just have to go on faith.

I dunno, The Goonies was just as bad.

My vote goes to Facebreaker

WII and DS games don't count. That's like shooting fish in a barrel.

I heard the Wii version was OK

Facebreaker on 360

is an atrocity

<_< 360. I don't own one. I refuse to buy a console that doesn't have built in wifi.

It's amazing how cheerful and light hearted everything became within a few pages. I think I'll make my leave before the nice rays cause my skin to be seared from my bones.
