For example, take all the frivilous questions asked on these boards. Questions that can be easily accessed in the FAQ page. I think having more than one 'hero' would only further confuse these people, the ones who ask erroneous questions and care little to use their Google search feature..
You're speaking as someone who's familiar with these forums and (I'm assuming) looking up video game news in general. You'd be surprised how long it can take new commoners (even ones who frequent other sites with similar layouts) to get a feel for where to find the information they want. Try looking up a topic you don't really know much about. It can be a pain finding the answers you want even if they are in what a regular might call plain sight.
Right now I'm looking up how to take care of bed bugs and the forums all look like a mess to me.

Please look over the thread, I don't think you understand what we've been arguing for and why.

You don't have to be a genius to use a search engine like google to get reviews and read up on what a game has to offer.

Which you would only do if the game already has your interest. We're going in circles here.

So the only way a game gets your interest is if you see a commercial on t.v. with a female lead? Highly unlikely
Yep I agree we are going in circles, but apparantly two different ones

One last thing from me: if the OP thinks the BioWare forums are sexist, then I'd invite them to post this same thread in the Witcher forums.
This is hardly fair. It's basically saying that because there's someone worse I'm in the clear. While I don't feel these forums are anymore sexist then what you'd deal with in day to day life, that's not a valid way to dismiss the critiscms that have been raised. You are responsible for you regardless of what someone else is doing.

Indeed, and it's also uncalled for and irrelevant.
The OP has been very clear and consistent about her motives for this thread and they have nothing to do with sexism - simply wanting more females to be made aware of the great things dragon age has to offer them.

I see.
Well they can see all the great things about dragonage if they care to notice dragonage.
Not advertising a female will not stop them.

The only way I found out was because my brother bought the game and told me. I never looked into it because Fable 1 there was no choice *normally I don`t really care that much, but considering you can choose to be good or evil it would be nice to choose a gender*.
If I have to play as a guy, that`s okay *when it comes to FPS though, like Gears ... I mean it`s Dom
Mind you, I never really was that into games then, and the only games I play now are DA and ME pretty much (and AvP until I traded it in because I`m an idiot ... ).

I think dragon age is a great game for females - one of the few where you can play as a woman who isn't designed to appeal to pubescent boys and where npc women who appear in the game are likewise treated the same respect as male characters; fighting alongside them and many have positions of power.

That`s true. When I read the DAO instructions I was so really thrown off when it said males and females will start with equal stats because they are considered equal. I`ve played games where if you`re female you`re weaker, that`s it. No strength for you! *And then guys are slower or something, which is silly too*

Or on the internet where you can figure out you can play as a woman.
Besides saying outright that you can play as a woman is likley to cause misunderstanding.
Advertising now doesnt say here YOU CAN PLAY AS A MAN.Would cause mixed messages if you did that with women.

I don't think it's a waste of money, but I do think it's a waste of money to make specific advertising for specific audiences other than your core audience. I mean take current advertising for household products, back in the day advertising was more towards the male audience, then the realized that women were the main ones doing the shopping for the home, so marketing was shifted to appeal to women and sales went through the roof. They aren't saying that men don't shop for household products or even that men don't use them, but instead they are marketing towards their core buyers that will bring in the most money for them.

It's an attempt to make it 'ok' for women to be weaker. After all, if they're better than men in this aspect, it's ok for men to be better in this aspect. This of course ignores the fact that either sex is perfectly capable of reaching the same level on the battlefield. If you doubt this, check out the fine ladies of the IDF. If they don't convince you men and women are on equal footing as far as combat is concerned, I don't know what will.

I have yet to see an advertisement anywhere other than the internet and decide to play that game or even look into it.
This being a career game owner/player.
