your analogy is flawed.
you invested the money in making the grape juice, made no effort to let people know you had it then assumed nobody must have wanted grape juice or that your customers weren't psychic enough to know to ask about the grape juice so it is there fault you lost money.
I think you made my case for me
Will DA2's current marketing campaign appeal at all to new female players.

Besides, if female gamers aren't smart enough to do whats listed above, what makes you think they will dig deep enough to see trailers/screenshots featuring Female Hawke? And didn't Bioware state we'd see female Hawke eventually anyway? Sorry, I'm not a female so maybe I don't understand the frustration over not seeing a female version yet but I don't see what the big ****ing deal is.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us
? They are extremely similar and it is pretty common knowledge the main character of AC2 is fixed.

To be clear, you are saying there is no point in advertising because people who want whatever it is will find it on their own. Correct?
A lemoade stand wont advertise get your cups in pink or blue.
Actually service (including scenery, silverware, options in tables ect) is something restaurants love to advertise. Because they know how varied people's tastes are and see the number of potential customers it'd bring.

Funny thing is, all these people posting and getting the completely wrong impression of what's being talked about from glancing at the title alone more or less prove my point about first impressions.

Sorry, what is the issue here? DA2 marketing not appealing to women? Women not knowing they are able to play females in games like ME2 and DA because of lack of female advertising, right?
I would go back and read this 30 page thread but its not costing me $60.

Some people will. Some women will not play this game, because they think they can't make a female character.Arrtis wrote...

Just like if all the advertisements featured female Hawke a depressingly large number of posters would make threads about how they don't want to "have to play as a chick."
And, for the record, no it is not "the woman's fault" for not doing more research. If she sees a trailer featuring male Hawke it is a perfectly reasonable assumption that this game, like countless ones before it, doesn't feature the option of creating a female character and that generic "brown hair +stubble/beard" is the only option.

I would love for BioWare to pull a stunt like that. Make it so that you have to play a female role. It'd take like 10 seconds for my fellow sex to start complaining and perhaps it's simply my own bias but I think we'd be a lot less civil about it.

The solution is to advertise both Hawkes, then. Which they said they would do. I don't wheter they meant trailers for Female Hawke and male Hawke but they've said we'll see her. It's too early to say what will and what will not happen.

Have you read the back of the DAO or ME? It says nothing about playing as a female. As for asking a clerk...well you'd be at the mercy of their knowledge or lack there of. I'm not sure how versed some of the workers at Target/Walmart are at the games they sale.
