By now the franchise is known. So, it doesn't help to use the same marketing goals to attract a larger audience. To attract that larger audience you have to have something that appeals to that new market. There is no such thing as common denominator to attract everybody. So, I guess it would be safe to expand it. Has the game better or suburb graphics? If so advertise *that* on gaming hardware sites. Has the game great AI and shooter mechanisms? If so advertise *that* on sites which attract action game fans. Has the game female PC support then advertise *that* on sites which are known to attract female gamers. On general purpose sites (like Steam or IGN) switch the banner from time to time so that all those great features can be highlighted. I've more great ideas. Contact me if you want to hire me. ;)

You should really post statistics of a RPG game that is not online and see if it shows quite a lot of women.

tez19,
You've thoroughly made your point, but generally when you consider a thread to "be pointless", that's a good indicator that you shouldn't post in that thread anymore. Let people have whatever discussions they choose to, no one is obligated to post in every thread, or participate in every hot debate

Thank you

The difference between the number of potential users of your product and the number actually using it is your potential growth. Companies like growth, growth is good. So for a gaming company to turn-off or simply ignore the majority of the population would be unwise. While some games are geared more to one demographic or the other. RPGs seem to be one genre that appeals to both males and females. There are definitely more women playing RPGs now then when I first started playing video games and that (still largely untapped) market equals huge potential for gaming companies. They ignore 51% of the population at their own risk.

But having said that I do believe Bioware does a pretty good job of appealing to the female market. DA itself and the number of women posting on this site are both evidence of that. If those women are simply requesting Bioware to tone down the "eye-candy for 13 year old boys" quality of some character models to make the game more appealing to women then Bioware may want to listen to them.

Wow Players 25-54 in 2008
female 428,621
Male 675,731

Further claims about female gamers without facts or studies to back them up will be considered hate speak and slander.

Both are explicitly against forum rules.

Please keep the conversation intelligent and informed and do not give in to those who are trying to turn this into a gender war.

This facts are random.. I am talking about WoW as a whole and it had more players then that at a time even..

That means (EU, US , ASIA and all the private server or whatever)

then please pack up your claim with a study or press release and do not make unbacked up summary claims...

Otherwise again it will be considered slander

My poll is nowhere near a good measurement, but it shows interest in FemShep. And it shows that FemShep is not only played by female gamers. So, measuring how many male players there are doesn't make sense at all. It's about if gamers are interested in playing FemShep. Or in the case of DA2 Lady Hawke (or whatever her name is).

agreed but this thread is not about the game. Just the advertising. The game itself and it's ME siblings are highly appealing to women. That is why I think there could be a high ROI if marketed properly

if people want facts in this thread then i think you will do well to look up the population of the human race. men are very slightly the larger sex of the population.

To be entirely honest, why are any of you here? You have repeatedly said you don't think women should be the target of any kind of media campaign, that all they're doing is ****ing and this thread is a waste of time. What reason do any of you have to be here given you feel the way you do?

Yes but they use slander in the site rules so I used that

http://social.biowar...page/site-rules
"No slander. Insults, language, belittling of others or anything else deemed offense will be deleted without warning if considered unacceptable by an official Moderator or member of BioWare/Electronic Arts staff. Content that is insulting to anyone based on gender, lifestyle, religion, ethic group, race etc. is unacceptable and will be deleted without warning. A person or persons found to repeatedly slander others may be banned from these forums at the discretion of the staff."

When I first seen DAO advertised I knew that I wanted to play it. I did not care if the character was male or female I wanted to play the game. I am a female and I was glad to see that the warden could be a female but I would have played as a male if I had to in order to play the game. Same in the Mass Effect game ad the same in Baulders gate game I wanted to play the game first gender second. I have been really thrilled with all of the games so far. Keep up the good work. I will ask to have Alistair and Kaiden LI back in future games.

That's absurd. Making incorrect claims and/or deliberately misleading statements is neither slander nor hate-speech. You might wish to consult a dictionary.

Kinda of topic but deliberately misleading statements are 'real' slander, I think, since they demonstrate a clear intent to harm someone's reputation and that the speaker knew they weren't true.

This makes less sense than your usual nonsense. If you don't complain about injustices, how is it unfair that someone who does go about righting the ones committed against them gets their's addressed?

And considering all the ****ing you've been doing about women getting special treatment I think men whining about not getting their way is pretty well documented.

And you again demonstrate your inability to understand even how citing sources works and what counts as a legitimate source.
