I don't get why it should matter whether the skill is unique or not. After all, Singularity isn't unique (thanks, Liara!), and neither is Tech Cloak (thanks, Kasumi!). And you could easily argue that Tech Armor is just a beefed up version of Barrier, Fortification, or Geth Shield Boost. And the primary property of Adrenaline Rush is a total knockoff of the Sniper time dilation available to an Infiltrator. None of those abilities are truly unique... but you don't see those classes complaining, do you?termokanden wrote...

this concept can be expanded to a great degree, making the engineer the choice
for tacticians.

class has the best shield-stripping and armor-stripping powers in the
entire game, too. You can very easily turn your Engineer into an Incinerate/Overload spammer. Overload shield, Incinerate armor, Cryo Blast health, shatter enemy. That's about as direct as you can possibly get.
