I was well aware of the weapon and armor mods in ME1, and I definitely made sure everyone had the latest & greatest mods on all their stuff, because it is in my nature to min-max my character(s) as much as possible within the parameters of whatever game I'm playing. However, I didn't like having to do that stuff, nor did I like having to run around every room opening up canisters to see if it happened to have Colossus armor in it. Imagine how allocating mods would be in ME2, with twice as many squadmates. No thank you. Scrolling through inventory screens is not my idea of fun. Like the other guy said, give me more story and/or fighting.

Btw, ME2 Insanity is definitely harder than ME1 Insanity.

How can I argue with that? You beat the game with one weapon because you're good at it.
You are skill with that weapon. And you picked that weapon, or change
weapons, or don't use weapons at all, based on skill and choice.

Because the weapons are all predominantly the same. If you're good with the Mantis then you'll be good with the semi-automatic sniper as well. You'll fire more shots because it does less damage, but it's still a sniper rifle and functions that same.

You pick the weapon that better suits your playstyle, but the choice is still just as arguably useless as the mods were in ME1 because you will get the job done either way.

What?
On my insanity run I was an infiltrator and I had Miranda and Mordin for just about every mission. The only exceptions were when I needed a certain character for their loyalty quest. I never said to myself that I had to swap out Mordin or Miranda for a more appropriate skillset. There were times when a certain ammo power might have been useful, but it was never necessary, nor was it ever pressing enough to make me reload the mission.

Health - Difficulty - Balance - Upgrades - Scaling ...... they are intimately related and they always result in really weird immersion breaking aspects of any game. Nobody does it right.

The worst offenders in ME2 were:

1) Thermal clips

2) Your companions never die unless you do

3) You are an elite soldier and you enter a combat situation with your heavy weapon UNLOADED

4) You take 1000 shots with no effect, but only the very last on kills you.

5) You are an elite soldier, Spector or the prime Cerebus agent and you have to buy normal weapons. The only weapons you should ever have to buy are the ones you make yourself or are new tech

6) Cover behind a desk can stop a bazooka

7) The magic teleporting weapon lockers

Most of it comes down to covert and overt scaling and the fact that AI is pretty stupid in most games.

However ME2 is no worse than other games.

1) Because picking a gun based on play style, then adding tech upgrades for to one gun that shoots the same except more power and with acid is different. One involves skill, while the other evolves putting **** together that's not really needed. Because I hardly used upgrades. I just randomly grabbed whatever, and didn't care.

2) I don't like Miranda and Mordin much, but it sounds like you grabbed the best of both worlds. You got Tech and Biotics with you all the time. Guys like me? Garrus, Tali, Thane, Kasumi, Zaeed, Samara, etc. I use them all during the right missions.

Anyways, this is going off topic. Let's get back to Liara.

Using a gun properly does, instead of standing still firing, out of cover.

I might be some crazy ass garrus fan here but I actually hope that this would set up Liara joining your crew. I would kind of facepalm if there is a conversation that goes like:

Shepard: "So...Liara, wanna join my crew now? You know....those big bad reapers are coming."

Liara: "I'm sorry shepard but my work here is to important for me to just leave. Good luck with the reapers!"

And that's the same for every type of gun in ME2 and ME1 both. ME2 is not more "skill based" than ME1.

It takes *some* skill in ME2 having account different body parts cause different damege (headshots, crippling mechs etc...) instead of ME1.

i agree with you on this, i use mordin and miranda until krios comes along.. i use miranda specifically for her overload, warp, and that fact that using her alone increases weapon damage 15% what maxed out.. and krios is nice to have around not only for his warp, but having his throw field is very useful against groups of enemies.. and i really dont need to use much of anyone else.. unfortunetly

You said you can beat the game with any weapon without skill, and all you have to do is stand still and pull the trigger. So what's stopping you?

How do you use the Widow? Stand still and pull and trigger?

I never said all you had to do was stand still and pull the trigger.

What I said was that the different weapon options available in ME2 are not any more skill-based than the weapons in ME1. You can beat the game with any weapon.

My god, you two have been off topic for more then 3 pages. STOP. If you want to discuss this, go to the characters/tactics discussion. No one wants to hear it here.

Now, ON TOPIC. I wonder what we'll see coming out of the DLC. Maybe a new weapon in addition to the speculated power/research?(So far the only Biotic increases have been the normal percentage based ones, I'd like to see a power/weapon more then research)

A new power available only on DLC sounds a little... I don't know how to say it, but I just don't like the idea. I mean, the only thing we've been having for a while now is new weapons/armor, but new powers? I think players will start to demand a new power for each class if the Adept were to have a new power. Research, on the other hand, I wouldn't mind. Researching some sort of upgrade that allows biotics to damage enemy shields/barriers would be very nice. If that's too powerful, the upgrade could always allow a small portion (maybe 1/4 or half) of the full biotic damage to affect shields/barriers. New weapons, on the other hand, are always welcome provided they can shake up the combat system for the better.

They could add powers to engineer and the soldier.
