I posted this in teh video thread, but thought you shoudl see it here too.

Some people have been asking when the Lair of the Shadowbroker DLC "takes place" in Mass Effect 2. As in can you play it before the suicide mission or only after.

I went to the font of knowledge (the Mass Effect writers) and asked them. They said:

"Like many of our missions, you can do the Shadowbroker DLC before or after the suicide mission. However, because we understood that most players would be coming to this after the suicide mission, we weighted the
dialog much more heavily toward the assumption that the player had already completed it."

So, you CAN do it before you do the suicide mission, but you'll get a different (and possibly more flavorful) reaction if you play it after.

Hope this makes sense. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]

Not really.

How can TIM send you info about the SB if you do it AFTER the suicide mission and chose the paragon choice ?

Do we have proof that Timmy does in fact send Shepard a message? Doubtful.

So what would that mean, people who haven't completed the game just don't get to play this? People in the middle of the game will download this on 9/7 looking to play it right away, and the game will tell them, sorry, come back in 20 hours and then, if your Shepard lived, you'll be able to use the product that you just paid $10 for? That doesn't make any sense.

Post-game DLC isn't unprecedented. There is a Fallout 3 expansion, for example, that continues the story from the ending.

To be fair, the pressure for that came from the issue that Fallout 3 had one of the worst endings in history. Broken Steel was damage control :P

Even if Shepard cut ties with TIM, that doesn't preclude TIM from sending Shepard an email (or otherwise contacting him) with info about TSB's whereabouts. It's safe to say that TIM and TSB are not pals, given how Cerberus acquired Shepard's body. Even if Shepard and TIM aren't on each other's Christmas list, TSB is still a mutual enemy.  He's probably one of the few enemies that TIM actually fears. Why wouldn't he sic Shepard on him?

It's possible that it takes into account whether or not you told TIM to stuff it if you do it post-SM.

You tell him to either fall in line or stay out of youre way and he says "If thats how you want to play it fine" and I dought TIM has death wish so he falls in line Image IPB

Ok, I'm confused. Does this DLC take place after the events of Mass Effect 2?

Not holding my breath, but it would be nice if the pre-SM email was very different from the post-SM email.

C) Conrad Verner final answer, I always knew that guy was up to no good on the Citadel just asking for an autograph and a picture.

But on a more serious note I will have to say D.) an Asari and I have a pretty good idea who "she" is clever girl hiding in plain site.

I'm very curious to see how this DLC will play for those who romanced Liara in ME1 and had stayed faithful to her in ME2. Unfortunately, I have no ME1 playthroughs with a Liara romance. Maybe it's time to do one ;)

Get in, get out. Kill everyone who gets in your way.

It is simple. I like it. Of course I am a Marine.

Cannot wait to get this.
