Oh good lord, let's not turn this into another edition of "Love Interest Wars: Mine is Better than Yours."

I want to know if the squaddies are voiced in this DLC, or whether they'll sit around mute, like they did in Overlord.

Didn't mean to turn it into that. I liked Liara up until in ME2 I finally get into contact with her again and to show her love she gives you a very awkward hug and kiss then tells you that her work is too important to come with you, have you help her work on it and then help you with your very dangerous mission to save the galaxy.

Beside that fact, she has become the kind of person that I spent a lot of time taking out in Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, just because it's Liara it doesn't suddenly make it ok.

Well like with Ash it didn't bother me that Liara didn't just fall into my arms after being missing for two years.  That would have been slightly unrealistic.

What DID bother me was that my Shepard DID NOTHING, SAID NOTHING, and couldn't get Liara or Ash to even listen to him for just a few ticks.  Considering that my Shepard could convince just about anyone to hear him out,  is was dissappointing the way Liara practically shoved him out of her office to go do her hacking jobs.

So I'm really looking forward to this.   I guess Ash needs her DLC mission as well.   Then again, maybe not because if Ash follows my Shepard then her career in the Alliance would be ruined.  Her family history, my Shepard working for Cerberus would be poison for her (and her sisters if they ever joined the Alliance)  :(

If you had Liara as LI or Ashley dies on Vermire its Liara on the ship helping you with the evac in the beginning of ME2. That way its much more convincing she even tries to find your body after. And ofc Tali goes back to her people, she didnt fall for Shepard until during ME2. Liara has none as we killed her mother. Shepard is her family.

Looking forward to this DLC. Already have 2 playthroughs on pause waiting for Liara.

AND WHAT ABOUT THE KAIDAN / ASHLEY RELATIONSHIP?

In the Mass Effect 1 forum Bioware promised us that we could continue ALL THREE romances in Mass Effect 2.

I'm so angry about this .......  I feel like a second-class-player
:alien:

I hope an Ashley/Kaiden DLC will be in the future.

Just I can't see a person-specific DLC to be implimented since only one of them will survive.  Hopefully this theoretical DLC will change according to whomever survived Virmire... if it happens at all.

it would make sense for a virmire survivor DLC to somehow also tie in with Shepard's standing with the alliance - to resolve how shep stands with his/her old allies on many levels, just as the liara DLC will have interesting shadow broker stuff (i hope) for those who didn't do the romance.

but yes, it would be nice to see ashley/kaidan again. with that said though, i will say "yay liara" for now and be happy that it's coming so soon.

Yeah you were so importent to Liara that she stuck around to make sure everything worked out ok and you had someone you knew around when you woke up to help explain things to you. Oh wait, no she didn't.

As far as Tali knew you were dead, it makes sense for her to go back to her people.
[/quote]

You expected Liara to have somebody sitting next to your operation table for an indefinite period of time while a group of rejects perform a mad science experiment that may not even work at all?

As far as Liara knew you were dead as well, but she still made an effort to find you and do everything in her power for you.

I want to have sex in the future, so let's set a date. you'll want to request vacation time from work because you'll be sick and will have a fever for a week afterwards, so plan accordingly. I'm so glad we got together. This is such a practical relationship! Oh, wait, you are Tali, right? Say something so I know for sure."

if you have all these bad things to say of this video game, then why do you even join in in the experience.. if you don't like it don't play it, and dont come to the forums and spread all your negativity around to everyone else.. it's truely unbecoming..

Sorry, but a small correction-

Tali was in love with Shepard during ME1. She just didn't say anything because she thought Shepard wouldn't be able to see past the mask.

Now then, back to this DLC.

My philandering renegade douchebag Shepard cares nothing for Tali's fever.

What standing does Shepard have left with the Alliance?   The Alliance has spent the last two years ripping Shepard apart.  If Ash or Kaiden have anything to do with Shepard, their careers ARE OVER.

I don't think it matters at this late point if PS3 gamers get this content for free.

What matters is what's their connection to Liara going to be?   They didn't have a relationship with her at all before ME2.   I know about the function that's supposed to fast foward everything for the PS3 gamer, but I would think they would need more than that to be able to appreciate what this whole thing with Liara is all about.

Then there's the fact that the majority of PS3 owners here in North America ALREADY own an Xbox 360.   The PS3 is the "2nd Console" for most core gamers this generation.   I should know, as I bought my PS3 late last year.

When people asked why PS3 gamers didn't buy Bioshock in significant numbers when it was released a year after the 360,  didn't they know the main reason was because most core gamers already had a 360 copy?

Well, another quoted reason was that it was over a year old, full price and no extra incentive to buy. So free content might indeed help it. :P

At this stage, I doubt even EA assumes that ME2 for PS3 is going to be a massive hit. It's just setting up for a more successful multiplatform ME3.

Also, this might come as a surprise to you, but there are territories outside North America. I think it's hardly a coincidence ME2 PS3 was announced in a European event... :)

I don't hate all of it.

And I find it rather amusing. If you can't take a little negativity about games you like then maybe you shouldn't come to a public forum.

Well, I don't find people that enjoy Tali amusing, but I don't come in and tell them to stop talking about her because I understand people have their own opinions.

Again, if you think I'm being an ass either ignore me or leave. If I'm really being too much of an ass then a moderator will do something about it. Cheers.

Generally what bothered me about Liara in ME2 is that her character development doesn't make sense given how she was presented in ME1.
She's a super nerd with no social skills that hasn't been around people in 50 years in the first game. In the second game, she's threatening people that are refusing to pay her - that's a HUGE jump without any development (aside from her saying "I'M ANGRY")
Her motivations make no sense:
If she's angry about Feron's death/capture that doesn't really fit at all since she barely knew or liked him.
if she's angry the Shadow Broker stole Shepard, it really doesn't make sense for her to just let Shepard leave on a suicide mission if she can help. Why would she take the chance of losing Shepard again?
It really felt like the entire interaction was artificially built around the constraint of "she can't join the party" and "this is the dark chapter, so she needs to be more edgy" instead of organically developing.

There are a lot of interesting things to do with her character and the place she's in though - I'm curious how they resolve it. I feel most of the interesting potential had to occur with the threat of shepard dying again, but there's still fodder there.

I will be expecting a lot for 800 MS points. Bethesda's Knights of the Nine pack for Oblivion was 800 points as were some of their DLC for Fallout 3 such as Broken Steel and Point Lookout. The packs I listed contained many hours of extra playtime, hopefully the Lair of the Shadow Broker will also be longlasting. Kasumi and the Overlord pack were certainly of high quality but they were slightly lacking in quantity. For an extra 240 points I have high hopes for this DLC and hopefully I won't be let down. ;)

I said she didnt FALL for Shepard until ME2. She had a crush on him yes or was intrested in him. But her biggest loyalty was to her people, her family.
