Now that's an interesting observation, Les (love the avatar, by the way). Perhaps the prolonged stress of the past two years have had a physiological effect on her. We still don't know as much as we could about asari physiology.

Another guess I had was Bioware gave her a light re-render on account of they're introducing her 'father' in this and they wanted a closer resemblance.

I don't think she's entering her matron stage. As far as I can tell, her face is pretty much the same as in ME1, just with sharper textures.

Is it just me or does Liara look off in appearance?

Skintone and eyes look flat/dull. Lips also wrong color. She also looks younger and like a zombie.

Bioware oversight or makeover?

Oh well.

Yeah. She does look more like her mother now. She's still considered a kid, right. We're just 2 years from ME1. They reach the matron stage at 350 and the matriarch state at 700. I don't think our maiden skips 6 centuries in development in 2 years.

Edit: To be sure you can always check her... erm... armor.

Edit 2: I've misread your post. You said matron and not matriarch. Stupid me. Still, she would need to skip 2 centuries in development.

I've bought a lot of games that I didn't get through even one time. I finally plowed through Oblivion, for instance, just to say I got through it. What did I get? The opportunity to watch the final, real boss fight.



I bet I've played through ME2 at least eight times. Now I'll play through it at least twice more -- finishing my current playthrough and then, depending on the results, playing it through again with the Liara content.



Yes, I will have paid $30 for DLC after buying this latest installment. That and the game itself (PC) are, so far, the best bang for the buck I've paid for games since the original Mafia came out in 2002.

As for Liara's appearance, I think they're going for the more mature, gaunt and hot look, instead of the original (and endearing) cute look. But both work for her, and it's a healthy sign that she's matured. Although I will miss the awkwardness.



I think the shot you're worrying about, MassEffect762, is Liara showing a sort of (poorly rendered) expression of pain. The other shots show her looking quite... smoking, to be honest. Just the lighting/expression conspire to make the one shot look a little off.



As for her resemblance to Benezia, I hope it doesn't go too far. I can understand the maturity. But Benezia never was that good looking. Keep the Liara face, add the maturity.



Regardless, she's closer to the Matron stage now than before. And that can only heighten my hope for future asari Shepards. Mass Effect 4, anybody?



(I'm of the opinion that you can play as Shepard's child (human male/female, asari female (duh), or adopted turian, drell, quarian, etc.) in the next game, or, if you don't want to, as his/her protege/apprentice. Either way, Shepard can serve a similar role. ^^)

Way to go!  I like hearing others voice that their Shepard remained true to their ME1 LI.
I'm happy that the Liara LI fans are getting a bit of happiness.  I just hope that BW has something for us Kaidan and Ash fans as well.

The darker lips stand out.   Liara used to have blue lips a different shade of blue from her skin but not dark like this.  I  guess we get Goth Liara which can be hot I guess depending on your preference.  If we walk in on her listening to Asari version of Lacuna Coil or some other Goth metal band (a good one, not a emo sort) I'll be truly in love!

i, too, thought this at the end of ME1, but now i dunno. the idea of femshep preggers makes me want to laugh.

and as for faithfulness to liara or the virmire survivor, i agree with jade.

I have 5 Shepard's 3 female and 2 male.



Of the femsheps, one stayed loyal to Liara, one stayed loyal to Kaiden and one cheated on Liara for Garrus.



My malesheps were ALL bad boys. One cheated on Ash for Tali and the other cheated on Liara for Miranda. Dun dun DUUUUUN!!!!!!
