Who are they?

The correct spelling is "Raloi". Newest race to join galactic politics after the humans. Mentioned on the Cerberus Daily News thing months ago.

Here

They've only been mentioned in Cerberus Daily News, though there is a hint that they may be one of the new races to be appear in ME3 (implied in the article). But beyond that, we know nothing about them.

(Maybe someone already said that. I have no time to read 74 pages of posts.)

I don't know if this DLC takes place BEFORE or AFTER the suicide mission. I have no news about this. But if it takes place AFTER s.m., what a masterstroke if we'll uncover that the Shadow Broker and the Illusive Man are the same person!

(Yeah, yeah. Someone already had this idea. I repeat: 74 pages of posts are too many...)

People REALLY need to get off the TIM is TSB idea. It makes the least amount of sense. Not saying it couldn't happen, but if it ends up that way, the writers need to retcon or come up with REALLY good explanations.

Chris Priestley is the Shadow Broker

Well, he does seem to control all the information in the galaxy.

The Shadow Broker (who has been around for ages) a member of the most recent species to join the galaxy? Am I the only one who sees a problem here?

Pauravi wrote...

Let's see. These are the possibilities we have, regardless of how likely they are:

1. Liara's dad

---

1. is possible but,
frankly, stupid.  It is also not particularly likely.  Liara is young --
barely over 100 -- and the SB has existed for much longer than that.
That would mean that the Shadow Broker "fathered" Liara while acting as the Shadow Broker
Someone who needs to be as secretive, paranoid, and cautious as the SB,
and who has so many enemies, would simply never have time nor ability
to be in public long enough to become romantically involved with
someone, much less even consider fathering a child.  Additionally,
someone with the capacity for doing what the Shadow Broker does is
probably far too obsessed with their work to even consider the idea.  It
just doesn't strike me as being a psychologically reasonable or
realistic thing for someone who is the SB to do.

You do realise that (with the information we've been given) conceiving a child for the "father" Asari could be like a 30 second job on a bad day? I'm sure even the Shadow Broker can pull his mind off work for that long... And the rest of the reasons you list could basically point in the entirely opposite direction of what you're saying, with Liara's dad's identity being kept a big secret (and her mother being a Matriarch, of all things)

So, counterargument: 1) Even people obsessed with their work breed [trust me, I wouldn't be writing this post here if they didn't] 2) If the SB did, it would make sense that the mate would be somebody of pretty impressive power [as with Liara's young age, it can be assumed that Benezia was, if not a Matriarch by then, certainly an Asari of importance]

Mind you, not saying that it's her, just pointing out that there really isn't any reason for it not to be.

I still prefer Chris' explanation. :P

Chris Priestly wrote...

I know I am not supposed to give away secrets in teh game, but here it goes.

The Shadowbroker is:
a) A Salarian
B) A Volus
C) Conrad Werner
D) An Asari
E) Something oe someone else

And I promise you that is 100% true. Now never say I don't tell you stuff.

After the comic, Illusive Man is the least likely suspect. I guess people just enjoy speculating with basically 0 % information (Redemption being the only practical source for info on Shadow Broker's personality we have available, essentially)

In terms of identifying the shadow broker you can automatically discard anyone that is not male.....ie the Asari, AIs and all the rest of it. I suppose it "could" technically be someone we never met if BioWare just got lazy and kind of stapled a poor DLC together but I seriously doubt it. this is big and it's meant to connect ME2 to ME3 along with whatever else they plan to release in the future but it's an important piece of story.

Now Shepard played a crucial role in fighting the reapers and the broker appears to be a reaper servant as far as we can tell so I have little doubt that in some way shape or form the broker and Shepard have personally crossed paths before.

I wonder if "renewing the romance" will lead to a sex scene and then Liara "riding the couch" in Shepard's cabin, with the same "sit" and "lie down" options that the other romance options have?
