Why do people keep looking at other game DLC and
say things like "yeah well blah de blah was de blah de blah and it was
blah de blah de blah". If you are going to do a comparison then at
least do it with Mass Effect 2 DLC, for example :-
Kasumi = 991mbs
Overlord = 1,002mbs
Now unless I missed out a massive chunk of gameplay in both those DLC's I am pretty sure neither of them lasted more than an hour. If you are expecting the Liara DLC to have more than 1 or 2 hours (at best) then you are going to be sorely disappointed I think.
Again I refer you to the fact the last DLC which was overlord came in at 1,002mbs and I wouldn't exactly say that was all that "expansive".Emperor Mars wrote...

So basically, you want Bioware to devote the same assets and time resources to a DLC that they would a game? Essentially you want ME3 in four years and only 1 DLC till then? NoMubar wrote...

Overlord(XBOX)=839mb
Both of those "1 hour" DLCs used under a gig. A gig is 1024 megs. Kasumi and overlord each used a little over a third of the total data which means that we'll be seeing a 3 hour DLC most likely. If you want a reason why both og those were so large then here it is. Kasumi was a squadmate, they had to include all of her percentages, stats, moves, their powers at each tier and when evolved, unique animations, in combat dialogue, a new weapon and then an "hour long quest". Overlord needed to repackage the Hammerhead, included many unique assets(The entire outside section and everything within it, the digitized particle effects and how to handle them, the building structure etc etc.), on top of the cutscene depicting the destruction of the dish and then an "hour long quest".
The Firewalker packs assets alone take up 354 mb. Assuming that MAYBE half of that wasn't the lava, or the hammerhead, which were present in Overlord, you'ver got 177mb already taken up. And that's assuming very much of the one or two audio files present in that DLC, and the "prothean sphere".
SO, I don't think that 2gb is so damned restrictive, especially considering your original numbers were wrong. If you used the PC numbers then that includes extra texture files for lower graphics settings, different shaders for graphics settings, different effects for graphics settings.... etc etc.

My numbers are not wrong as I said in an earlier post I am a PC GAMER therefore I would quote the numbers I have for my chosen platform. Naturally the xbox version will have slightly lower numbers due to the lower graphics and textures, but we are only talking a 200mb difference here. It doesn't change the fact that Overlord was nearly at 50% of the 2gb limit and that at best lasted 30 - 45 minutes (and that is being generous). If the Liara DLC is around 2gbs then that will net us around 1hr 30 minutes of gameplay.
So you can keep thinking that a 2gb limit isn't "damned restrictive" if you want, but from where I am sitting I am not impressed. I actually hope I am wrong I would love this DLC to be significantly indepth and last more an hour but going on the history of ME 2 dlc it seems the DLC will be pretty short and sweet even if it is 2gbs in size.

Okay, let's assume that 2gb is the most that Bioware can put out there(even though that quote is over a year old and the Xbox has gotten a major patch since then). I draw your attention to Burnout Paradise, which currently has a download named "Patch 1.9", it added a new space to the game, as well as updating old ones so that everyone could play online together. Now while the intended effect is different, the same system could be used to add some of the background files from Liara to ME2. New models/AI patterns/Outfits could all be added through the "patch" while none of it would mesh together without the correct dialogue and cues from the game's engine. It would also allow them to update Liara's Illium model, which is lower res then the LotSB model.charmingcharlie wrote...

Character Evolution:
I think I like the middle one the best but the newer one for this DLC is pretty sharp looking too.
Personally I think that the picture on the right is actually the same character model as the second, just the lighting is a little different. (Her "freckles" are a little bit more pronounced, and she's wearing a different shade of lipstick, or at least I think that's lipstick). (emphasis added by me)
This. Only some lights and emotion effects, Liara's face is the same also in the new screenshots.

EDIT: And Speed Running implies you already know the layout of the level, which means you've already played it once. So it's actually longer than you implied.

Which most people don't, since it would be a lot harder to whine afterwards.
I just hope it's not so much as to result in not getting DLC with new squadmates, new VO, new music etc. again. If all people bother with is how long it takes to speedrun it... You could just slap the Virmire sewers on foot into the game and be done with it. Sigh.

This is our biggest DLC yet, period.
It also marks the real beginning where we expand the ME2 story in preparation for ME3.
As time gets closer to release, we'll have coverage on more of the awesome things you can expect out of LotSB
So is this intended to be Post-Suicide mission DLC, or can it be undertaken any time before then (but after meeting Liara obviously)?
Is there an intent to continue even after Lair of the Shadow Broker as well? (More DLC that bridges the gap), I'm sure there are counltess people who are screaming the "EA is nickle and diming us to death" line, but honestly, Kasumi's Stolen Memory and Overlord were more rewarding than some full games I've played, and as long as the DLC is top-notch, like it has been I'm all aboard the Bioware-EA milking train.
They have said they plan to continue releasing DLC all the way until ME3.
And we might get a big one(expansion of sorts) closer to ME3's release.
i read some where in a forum, which was posted by javier that there is speculation amongst the community/devs that there will be a mass effect 2.5 expansion
