I played BG II a long time ago on a normal Windows machine. Now I'm trying to run it on a 64-bit system with Vista. The game seems to run okay and combat is fine, except there is a problem with the text messages scrolling by too fast. Also, when I'm using the store interface to peruse goods, it will spontaneously exit after several seconds. I'm assuming this is a problem due to the clock speed difference. I tried running BGII in DOSBox to get it to run slower, but that had no effect.
Has anybody else run into this? Is there a fix? I haven't had much luck searching for similar issues, but maybe I'm not using the right keywords.
Thank you.
Fast scroll/shop exit in BG II

Hmm, I was not aware that BG had clock speed problems, And I don't think it even has a DOS executable (box says 95/58), so dosbox shouldn't even be able to run BGII.
I'm running 64 bit 7 and not having any speed issues. Have you patched it? are you running any mods?

I haven't patches it or applied any mods; it's a fresh install. But I'll try the latest patch and see if that helps. Thank you.

Yes, patching it up, or at least loading the Final Chapter on top of the game, seemed to fix it up. It even works now with a number of mods loaded, although there still seem to be some combat bugs. Ah well, no matter. Thanks for the help.
