Who survived your MAIN file your going to carry over?

However I decided that I wouldn't keep that file, simply because its not a good story for everyone to survive the "suicide mission". After all it's supposed to be the single most dangerous mission ever, even Garrus says deaths are guarenteed.
So I always kill Zaeed and let half my crew die, i feel this is better story telling, however I dometimes don't feel its enbough. My squad is still 11 people, and when you can only bring 3 with you, its seems a bit much.
My question is; in your main playthrough, the one you want to carry over, the one with the story you love, who lives and who dies? Do you agree for the sake of telling a good story some people have to die?

Since he is the "no leader" thing so. yeah, he died, and coz of it, mordin also died.
FYI: that career was erased long ago
So my main one is my 2nd playthrough

My first playthrough my favourite charecter died, Zaeed. I thought he would be a good leader with all the combat experience he has seen. I guess I was wrong.
yes your wrong... but not ebcause you think Zaeed is not a team leader, but because Bioware is not aware that HE IS a good team leader.
So, your wrong... about Bioware
.....
Still Wished I could have used Mordin as team leader... he is a spec ops soldier... more so than most so.... but still Garrus kicks ass

A Miranda li / Everyone alive save.
A Tali li/Everyone alive save.
A Pro-Liara/Everyone alive save.
But my first run through which is also saved is Tali unforutnatly dying --- therefore also being the Li --- Shepard is single by default! lol.

dialogue (paragon speeches FTW), task designation, and squad assignment are likely significant factors.

Remember Zheed may have had combat experience but he is also a gun for hire --- his loyalty ends when the credits do, so at some point, if a mission ever should be more trouble than its worth, he would most likely choose self preservation.

I think the first time playing through both games (ME 2 & 3) should be done without meddling with who should die and who shouldn't - I'll just import my first ever playthrough bacause I want the story to be the consequence of my actions - before I knew how to make people survive etc. It was based purely on my instinct and judgement, without the knowledge from forums guides etc. so the experience in ME 3 will be truly mine - and therefore a good one. I suprisingly pulled off everyone survives scenerio on my first playthrough, wasn't actually hard to do - and I stick to that, but I would probably stick to every outcome of my first playthrough (exept Shepard dies of course) for the same reason. Meddling with the death of certain charcters will be good for multiple playthroughs - better replayability and who knows, maybe a more compelling story , but I'll check how that works with my 2nd or 3rd ME3 playthrough - not sooner.
As for Zaeed - I thought about making him the leader too - but I figured - he's a merc, he knows how to get the job done, but he won't actually pay attention to casualties - in all those memories of his past missions almost everyone exept him seemed to die - so I chose Garrus instead - he knows a lot about tactics and actally led a team of his own, and would probably whiped out most of the scum from Omega if it wasn't for the betrayal of one of his people. Guess it was a good enough logic.

Jason described the "duct" mission as suicidal, so I figured I'd send the squadmember with the shortest life expectancy. Besides, he's an expert when it comes to crawling through tunnels.
Well, he was...

Luck... that is all there is. And since there is no luck in math... then no... all can survive.
yes, sometimes spec ops suffer loses, but alot of the times they also come.... well not unharmed per say... but all alive.

I would have to disagree, you can
have a lot of combat experince under your belt but that doesn't mean
you'd be a good leader...it just means you happened to survived and
lived to tell about it.
Remember Zheed may have had combat
experience but he is also a gun for hire --- his loyalty ends when the
credits do, so at some point, if a mission ever should be more trouble
than its worth, he would most likely choose self preservation.
I agree, combat experience doesn't necessarily translate to leadership potential.... but I think, guns for hire usually have an escape plan... but the escape plan is a ship of someone else, your escape plan is your buddies... at some point Zaeed realized... I might have been payed alot, but creds dont work, in the middle of the galactic core.
if it was just a normal gun for hire.... and lets say, like Oblivion.. and you just go into some hotel and you rely on the merc.. yeah the merc can just run away, or hide... but in the middle of the collector base, I dont think that applies.
Could be wrong, but, IMHO the moment a Merc, agreed to go where nobody has returned from...makes his "merc" status a little odd.
yes he is still getting paid of course but, duno.

Yes.
My main and only playthrough to be imported in the "3" is quite close to Ecael's "worst playtrough".

My second import, however, will be my Paragon playthrough where only Tali, Garrus and Legion survived. For a touch of irony, the former is a Sole Survivor and the latter is a War Hero.
