Mass Effect PC texture issues. Desperate for help

Hello everyone, I'm really hoping all of you can help me.
I've owned Mass Effect for almost two years, and had to uninstall it a few months ago for a hard drive cleaning. I reinstalled it a few days ago and encountered some issues when I tried creating a new character.
Shepard's face was ridden with pinstripe-patterned indents and scar like marks, which got worse when I lowered the graphics and better when I raised them. Objects like weapons, armor and interactive things like the Normandy had the same pattern running down them. Other characters, essential to non-essential, had marks as well. Interior textures are fine, but characters have been butchered. There are no other problems with the game, but I can't play it with these awkward issues. I've checked other forums and FAQ's and no one has had the same problem as me.
This is seriously starting to depress me, I got revved for playing ME again and it fails.
I've played with the settings, updated the game, updated my drivers, cleaned the disk and much more. This morning I contacted EA support over the phone and only got the possibility of my graphics card, NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT, could be "artifacting", which is a fancy term for dying. They gave me some twenty dollar coupon to use in the store though. Doubt I will ever use it.
I reinstalled the game this morning as well, with no different outcome.
I also just sat in an EA chat support lobby for two hours just now getting advice from some broken-english associate who had me play with my NVIDIA settings like antialiasing and vertical sync, to no avail. He elevated my problem to the "senior-level" EA support associates who probably won't be able to fix it either.
I took several screen shots and put them up here:
http://forum.ea.com/...74.page#7466514
As you can see there are stripes everywhere, most characters have marks on their cheeks.
If you look on the arms of the random female crew mate, you can see black blots. These also appear on any character who is not wearing armor, I forgot to get a screenshot of it.
This is the last place I had to go, in case you guys have seen something like it or know what to do.
It would mean everything to me to get this game working again, suddenly it's more interesting than ever before and I need a distraction from current pressures.
Please help if you can, or send this to someone who might know how to fix it.
Thank you

This is an issue with the latest NVidia drivers, assuming they still haven't fixed it. Revert to a driver number before "200".

How do I do that exactly?

Asked on NVIDIA forums on how to revert, hoping this could fix it.

Every time a new potential solution comes along I get really hopeful.

Bump.

C'mon! It's exactly like going upward to a NEW one. Uninstall what's there now, then install what you want instead. How hard can it be?

Yeah, I've got the same graphics card, and the same issue, seen here: http://i34.tinypic.com/14m417d.png , which has prevented me from even really trying to play the game past the first few minutes. I've tried all the fixes I THOUGHT were suggested for my problem, but were apparently for other issues, but this sounds like it's it. I understand how I'd install an older driver... but I'm not sure where exactly to find it, or which one (pre 200, as TruYuri recommended,) would be best.

Edit: Okay, I found this page, http://www.nvidia.co...2k_archive.html , which I assume contains the driver I want... I'm just still not sure which one is right.

Start with the latest and just work your way back. As far as I know, 182.65 should work.

Actually, don't use that page. Even those are old. Go here instead. This way you can assure you have the right drivers for your card.

Again, choose one that is pre-200. Nvidia driver versioning is immensely retarded.

Going to do a few replies.
@ Gorath Alpha - I know the answer is probably staring me right in the face, but I've never played with drivers beyond installing new ones. I don't know how to locate them, whether ro erase them or not or just install old ones that automatically replace the new. Do you just introduce a new one to the system and it erases the old one?

@ ilyume - Although I wouldn't wish this issue on anybody, it's nice to know someone else is having the same issue so I'm not a barren case. Maybe it's just because I used the default Shepard this time, but I haven't seen the odd cheek marks on the default model, only pinstripes. The same follows for the grey blotting that's on light armor when I look at a class other than soldier, because I always play soldier that starts with medium armor.

@ TruYuri - Thank you for the link. I'm probably going to try this before anyone responds simply because I am desperate to play, but the same question I asked to Gorath. If I install an older driver, does it just replace the current one?
Also, when I was browsing on directions on how to revert to old drivers, I found frequent blogs about driver 195.?? and up causing other, more complicated errors in the computer itself. Which driver should I aim for?

Thanks a bunch for the help so far, community.

EDIT:
Jumped the gun just like I said I would and went to that link right after posting.
One thing I've noticed is that there are updates for the NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX, I'm going to assume the GT is either the same thing or uses the same updates.
Anyway, I'm going to attempt using GeForce Release 197 WHQL and see where that gets me. Still assuming that it automatically replaces my old driver.

It works!!

Installed 197 WHQL and only had a slight problem with the desktop but it fixed itself upon 2nd restart.

Everything is back to normal now, faces, weapons, armor and the Normandy.

Thank you so much everyone, this was really getting to me.

To illyume, I suggest this exact driver. Worked perfectly for me on the first try. Just like TruYuri said, keep going back on updates until one works.

I'll keep watching this forum to see what happens, and post any other issues that arise here.

Thanks so much everyone.

Version 197 worked for me too. Here's to hoping nVidia fixes the error in some future version.
