If Blizzard can come out with Diablo 3 soon and finish up the Starcraft 2 expansions/sequels/whatever in my lifetime, then I'll agree. Right now they are just killing me with anticipation and longing. Every new bit of info about D3 makes me want it now, possible imperfections be damned.
I just suffered a nerd fit the other day.
I was mad at how early they (Blizzard) announce their games. I mean I'd rather not know until a year before release. But no, they have to announce it ages before it CAN be released, and they make us wait in agony.
It still irks me, but then I think about it... I have never been disappointed in a Blizzard game. I don't play Starcraft but I was lucky enough to get into the Beta... I lost most of the games I played. But I had fun losing. And that's the thing, i've never not loved a blizzard game.
if that's the reason why it takes them so long to make a game, then they can take all the time they they want!
D3 has been in development since 2001... judging by their track record, most of their games take 10 years for release... here's hoping to a 2011 release

Just curious after some observations around here....does anyone even like BioWare and/or their games?
DA:O is my first Bioware game. If their other games are anything like DAO, then im a bioware fan.
I will say though that i'm not particularly pleased at the direction DA2 is headed but that's a separate issue I guess.

Just sayin, beeing looking around, and I could swear everywhere I look ...it's really tought to see people who actually like BioWare here. Don't think I've ever seen a "fansite" like it. Or maybe I'm just lurking in the wrong shadows....eucatastrophe wrote...

Granted I've only played half an hour of Shattered Steel but it played well even if it hasn't aged well. Granted there aren't that many contemporaries to hold it up against.

IMO, Blizzard and Bioware are fairly equal in terms of quality, though Bioware has an edge since they have more IPs.
What about Blackthorne, Rock and Roll Racing, Lost Vikings!
I even think they did a Justice League game
But overall Blizzard has six original IPs, Bioware has four (Shattered Steel, Jade Empire, Mass Effect and Dragon Age). The amount of variation can go up three with Sonic, D&D and Star Wars in overall properties divulged in for Bioware.
Granted Blizzard is a bit older than Bioware and hell those other three IPs I mentioned were released before Bioware's first game even.

I guess it all depends on how you define quality. I mean Blizzard routinely delivers tight fairly bug-free games. They usually pick a few things that they want the game to do and then make sure the game does those things as well as possible. In that sense their quality I think does exceed Bioware.
However, of the Bioware games I've played (BG2, NWN, KOTOR, JE, ME, DAO, ME2) I have yet to play a Blizzard game that I had as much fun playing as any of the Bioware games.

1. Games have more replayability, look at Diablo, and Starcraft to this day people still play both of those games and it's been a decade (not so much Starcraft because of the sequel).
Blizzard games ensure more playtime by making you sacrifice time for whatever reasons. Be that farming Mephisto with MF gear, boosting another character, playing multiplayer deathmatches with your buddies.
I prefer the BioWare type of replayability, where no two playthroughs are completely identical and you can try a lot of combinations of main characters to give you a different gaming experience (a few hip skilltrees with copycat characters all around the ladder don't count).

it's always like that though isn't it?
internet forums are filled with negative Nancies. go to Blizzard's site and you'll wonder why people are paying to play Blizzard games

Blizzard specializes in fun mechanics.
I remember SC1 and NWN tied ranks in a top multiplayer games of all time contest. No they weren't number one but they made the top ten together.

Look again, there are plenty of apologetic brainwashed fanboys going around and accusing anyone with any criticism of not understanding "how difficult it is to make games" or not being "thankful" to Bioware for being oh-so-nice to make games for us... <_<
