Anyone know if he just disapears? or if hes actually in the game later on? I've searched Arl Howe's Dungoen to no success, and it seems this is a glaring plot hole.
Apparently asking is a huge spoiler, though i fail to see how, you meet him in the first 2 minutes of the game.

Yeah, last I heard of him was from Cailan, who told me he was out in the forests or whatever. 47 or so hours later, at the tail end of the game, and I haven't heard anything else about him. I was constantly referred to as the last of the Couslands, and all the chat options that came up were all "I'M THE ONLY ONE LEFT IN MY FAMILY", even though I never heard or saw anyone say they found Fergus dead after Ostagar.

He shows up after the fight with the archdemon, and you can talk to him then. Before the ending I don't think theres anywhere to find him at.

He shows up in one of (possibly multiple) endings, but yeah I was also hoping I'd be able to track him down as a side quest in the game.

its kinda of silly the human story got shafted beyond the origin, it seems hardly no one recognizes you belong to the next powerful family after Loghains. Not to mention they totally forget the human origin plot until much later in the game.
Least the other origins I've noticed are much more consistent and have origin specific quests AFTER the origin. I wonder why the devs hate humans so much.

One kindof funny dialouge is with Alistar, if you didn't get it.
Right after Ostagar, he's brooding over Duncan dieing, and he asks you if you lost anyone close to you. Which, you can respond paraphrases, "uh, my whole family was murdered like 2 days ago. I told you this"
