I can't think of a way to integrate this so it wouldn't come across as Shepard being a snoopy stalker but maybe Shepard could come across some personal correspondence between Ashley/Kaidan and a friend or relative of theirs that detailed just how hard it had been for them to let go of Shepard. Perhaps an email from said friend/relative telling them flat out that they needed to get over him/her because it's been two years already, damn it. You know, a subtle way of letting Shepard know that Ash/Kaidan actually does still care.

Kaidan having a bunch of articles and stuff about Shepard would be more in the "armor" camp than the "dogtags" camp for me, personally. A little too TOO. A single picture of Shep, maybe another of the old Normandy crew, but more than that would start to get obsessive, and Kaidan never struck me as obsessive. He struck me as extremely well adjusted. He would grieve, he would take (apparently a lot of) time to get over it, but he wouldn't construct a creepy scrapbook shrine, you know?

I agree - a single picture of Shepard or maybe Shepard and the VC would be sufficient.

Another thing to remember is that a picture of the whole ME1 squad is something that varies for everyone: some people chose not to recruit Wrex, some chose not to recruit Garrus, some let Wrex die on Virmire, etc.

I would much rather if Kaidan/Ash was resolved as an overreaching arc in ME3 instead of DLC.

This might not be the right place for you since this is a wishlisht thread for a DLC for Ash and Kaidan. Additionally, I think that both aren't mutually exclusive.

You know, this has been mentioned before but not really talked about at length, at least as far as I can tell, but I think it would be really cool if the Virmire Survivor became the the second human Spectre. I mean, after working with Shepard they have more than proved themselves so it, for me, would be an interesting plot twist.

I think the problem with that - for me at least - is that it's part of Kaidan and Ashley's charm that they are soldiers, and just soldiers. They get the job done, but they are not like the superheroes of ME2 (Sidenote - I loved every single character of ME2. Superheroes is not a criticism - I'm just using the word to get the point across.) Having either of them become Spectres would destroy that for me. Especially when Shepard went from Soldier to Superhero over the course of ME1.

Also, we have a track record of Spectre life expectancy. Particularly around Shepard. A VS Spectre could turn out to be a VERY BAD THING.

They're already in a sort of SpecOps position by performing solo missions for Anderson. I'd be happier if Bioware left it at that and just explored what sort of things Ash/Kai had been up to.

Trying to imagine Kaidan's apartment...he's usually the one I leave behind on Virmire, and I guess I've never given the question any thought.  I think it would be pretty modern and sparse, but furnished to be comfortable.  Lots of dark blue and gradated lighting: his own sanctuary, the one place in the galaxy that never triggers a migraine.  And an incredibly well-equipped kitchen.  We're talking everything from Madeleine pans to an expensive steel knife set.  I see Kaidan as the kind of guy who enjoys doing seemingly simple tasks incredibly well, so I think he'd like cooking.  A few books too.  He strikes me as the "make a list and go to the library" type of guy.  He probably forces himself to read one fiction book every month or so, and prefers histories and biographies...

As for Ashley's apartment, I can't really think of anything better than what's already been described.  I do think she might have one photo of Shep, but in my canon playthough that photo is one of baby!Shep and his dad that she pocketed while doing an investigation into Shep's disappearance for Anderson.  So...we probably won't see that in the DLC.

Edit: I can't believe I misspelt 'Madeleine'

That comes pretty close to what I'd imagine Kaidan's apartment to look like, Batlass. He does mention that he loved to read books when he was younger.

And maybe he has a picture of his parents?

The shock, grief (plus busy military schedule) might prevent them from seeking a part of Shepard's possession as keepsakes because it was just all too painful. That the only way they know how to honor Shep is by trying to continue his/her work, fighting the good fight. I'd like to think that Liara at some point did want to hand over those dog tags to the VS, but she just couldn't do it since it will be a sharp reminder to K/A who are trying their best to move on.

You have a very good point here.

What if they had a ship model of the Normandy SR-1?  Like Shepard's ship collection?  Shepard can get it on the Citadel, why shouldn't they?  Since they might not have any personal mementos, that might be on of the only reminders of their time with Shepard.

Or, at least I could see Kaidan owning one.  I don't think Ashley is into model ships.

(I personally found it creepy that Liara not only retrieved Shep's body, but kept some armor.  )  I wouldn't want Kaidan or Ashley to own something like that, but that's just my humble opinion, and I know people will disagree.

Kaidan talks about reading "a lot" of sci-fi/sci-fantasy/sci-romance/some fictional genre about space exploration when he was younger.  I always figured he'd still be in that habit, even if he was just re-reading old favorites.  Ashley strikes me as the historical/biography type.  I don't know, though.

Re: Mementos.  I'd have much preferred that Ashley or Kaidan had Shep's dogtags.  Liara having them disappointed me quite a bit... I guess it makes more sense if she were your romance, but for me she wasn't and it seems to me that they would be more significant in the VS's hands, even platonically if they were carrying on Shepard's work.  *shrug*

Ah, I should have clarified.  I meant fiction books as in "things written by modern authors with the sort of plots that are chic for some reason, but are hard for everyone but the author and fabulous literary people like professional book critics to understand."  Old favorites (and, IMHO, sci-fi) don't fall into this category...

Edit: This time I spelled "hard" wrong

I too would like to see these stories develop, especially since my one and only male Shep ditched Ash for Miranda. However I feel DLC would be somewhat inappropriate and think it would be best if this was something you could bring to the attention of the developers for inclusion into ME3. Yes we'll have to wait but what can you do.

I am curious--why would it be inappropriate?

We can have our cake and eat it too.

Got me a really newbish question and I apologize for that. How exactly do I get the banner to display in my signature? I know how to do this on most forums but I'm running into some trouble here. It's just coming through as a link, obviously.

Oh my, nevermind. It appears to be working now -- sort of -- but at least on my end it seems really tiny.

I would love to see Shepard get a chance to have more closure with Kaidan or Ashley.....it was so cold and formal between them. Plus Kaidan (in my game) should know Shepard better than he appears to. Shepard is working with the Cerberus group's resources but she is also keeping a healthy dose of not fully trusting them. If Shepard wants to continue the relationship with Kaidan, they should have that choice too! Jacob is a good guy and deserves to know that Shepard is over Kaidan!!

I hope they do this right. What I want is a chance to talk about shep for a while. It was nice when Liara asked how you were doing, whats your state of mind ect. 12 squadmates who you bend over backwards for and they never even ask how your doing!! haha But this DLC seriously needs to happen, curb my ME3 withdrawls haha

Yes, I'd like Ashley to come and have a little "good old days" chat with Shepherd.

I'd also like to see her say hi to Garrus and Tali, since they're "old friends"

A 3rd bonus would be if Ashley talks to Grunt about Wrex and throws in some funny dialogue.

This will pretty much be all about Ashley, since I don't know much about Kaiden.

As for Ash's quarters, I'm picturing it as part arsenal, part bunker.

Ashley: This way, don't touch that, or that, step over that (commentary on the weapons around the room)

Shepherd: You do have somewhere to sleep right?"

Ashley: Of course, right over there next to the heavy weapons locker.

Some photos would be nice, like the kind of thing war veterans have.

You know, like this is my ship crew and this is me with my boss.

Props on the billboard picture!

Nothing like an unsubtle hint to really sell the idea!

That's great! Can't wait to see what Bioware comes up with, and I have a hunch that it might be GDC in march before we hear anything though. Hope I'm wrong but it seems more and more likely to me.

This is hilarious.
I could definitely see this conversation happening.  And Shepard grimacing as Ashley slyly says the last line.
IMO.

Fair enough; I'd never pay for "just flirting" or romancing a character either.  I would, however, pay for a good story DLC that drives the plot forward and also happens to feature characters from Shepard's past, ala Shadow Broker.:)
Edit: grammar.
