And considering Assault Rifle will be her primary weapon (all Soldier classes use this as primary), that only leaves one other weapon.
I'm not sure whether they'll chose Sniper Rifle or Shotgun, but the Sniper Rifle is the most likely choice, considering Ashley is a gunnery sergeant.
Likewise, I suspect her ammo power will be Incendiary, which is also a Soldier class requisite.
Subtracting her class Power, that only leaves one option to be filled.
Which could be concussive shot, adrenaline rush or grenade.
Or they may make up something completely new or bring back a new version of a ME1 power.

Maybe combine incendiary rounds with her shotgun, and it can be Combustible Carnage or something.

For Kaidan, give him Overload, Pull, Throw, an SMG, and a pistol. Boring but practical. Hey, when has Kaidan ever been splashy-awesome? (when he dies on Virmire doesn't count, as a)he's dead and

Though I think it would also be better handled in ME3. DLC feels kind of empty in a way because they don't bring in in all the voice actors so it's all Shepard talking.
Can't really have any kind of ME1 vs ME2 lover fight because the ME2 LIs didn't do any voice acting.

Not really feasible from a financial and development stand point, but that could be offset by their differing personalities and reactions to each situation. Of course, they would need someone over there at Bioware HQ who can write them better than whatever writer wrote them for their appearance in ME2 on Horizon, which was horrid.
Agreed.
It wasn't horrid for me, but I was pretty sad to see Kaidan shooting at Collector Swarms when he's arguably one of the best sentinels in the Alliance, why can't he use his tech or (more importantly) his biotic skills?
Dialogue...yeah, it was similar, but at least there were some differences between Ashley and Kaidan's responses. And at least the emails were different. I do hope BioWare keeps that up and takes it further for DLC.

Brody,
I got to commend you, There is one drum you have been beating since this site has been up. That is finish the story of our team and dont leave us in the wind on the fates of the VS. They wrapped up Wrex(sorta), tali, garrus,Dr and Joker all came back, and while getting a short anger filled reunion then sent a letter from your friend in the alliance. Fine we get it the fans (most of them) like blue women, but I think denying us fate from some of the more intresting char npcs i have ever seen in gaming and not bringing the story "up to current times" is an insult to us fans and maybe the series itself. Sorry for my soapbox, but I wanted to give brody public mad props for seeing this story/crusade through

I think this is a good guess of what Ashley's powers and guns will be. I personally think it would be cool if they re-did the immunity power for her.

And while we are on the topic: Please, no grovelling at Shepard's feet for having a different opinion, yes? Thank you.

I play a Soldier and miss having that power.
It could even be a bonus power, like the one you gain for helping Liara.
But I doubt I'd be able to have it anyway, I'd have to give up my Geth Shield boost for it.
The fun of Mass Effect 1, when you could have 10 or so powers and 8 of them were maxed.....

Despite it basically being an immature author fantasy in which a character is held in contempt for having a life or opinion besides just working for Shepard whereas characters who did are held with high praise (that really is exactly how it looks) and how it's basically terrible out of character behavior for Ash, pointless bashing and stupiid degrees of glorifying the Tali romance by having her and Ashley have a silly quarrel over the rights of Shepard and having Tali come across as an obsessive clingy possessive stalker girl in the process (not trying to offend any Tali fans that might be reading this, it's just that there's a boundry between fandom and idiocy and the author of this piece crossed it) and just generally it's another piece of Virmire Survivor bashing material in the long unwashed sea of Virmire Survivor bashing material on the web.... it did give me pause for thought.
Do you reckon that, in any bridging gap or story additions, that there would be any tension between the VS and the Crew of the old Normandy? Namely Garrus, Tali, Joker and Chatwas? Personally I'd like to think that there would be at least enough tension that there are some awkward silences and occassional 'almost arguments' after all, in this kind of situation people are bound to clash, after all it's been two years and the stick that came between Shepard and the VS could well have come between the VS and the old crew and I'd like to see that looked at a bit.
Granted, I'd like it to be a bit more subtle then:
"YOU DARED TO DISAGREE WITH THE GREAT AND INFALLIBLE MIGHTY SHEPARD, HENCE WE NOW DEEM YOU A SECOND class CITIZEN!!"
But still having the tension in some form or another could be great.
In an ideal world it would start off with tension on both sides that ends peacefully and on friendly terms (if you go paragon of course) with both sides finally being able to bury the hatchett and be able to be friends again. I think there is at least potential for genuine conflict and resolution as the VS is brought back into the mix with Shepard trying to (insert plot device here) and obviously the emotional conflict between the two groups could make for interesting stories.
On the flipside though, I'd worry that Bioware would take it too far. Like making a huuuuuuuge point about how Garrus and Tali didn't question Shepard and joined up with no hesitation and how Ashley/Kaidan didn't (even though that would be unfair considering that you know, they wrote it like that and the VS community doesn't want to be goeded into disliking their favorite characters). Or just once again just turning Ashley/Kaidan into the puppets they were made into on Horizon with nay a single argument to defend themselves.
But seriously though, the two different perspectives on the whole thing and the tension could be great for atmosphere and storytelling. Especially if this is within the context of a broken relationship slowly going through the process of healing.
Hell, I'd even call that poetic. But that's just me talking....
What does everyone else reckon? Tensions that need resolving? Trusts that need to be mended?
Also as a side note, no I will not tell anyone the title of that awful piece of fan fiction. The less people who clap eyes on that (insert nasty word here) the better off we all will be.

Big point about the ME games is they evolve from loyalty to organisation to loyalty to Shepard. Can't deal with that, don't want you on the crew.
You may not like it, but it's a valid view. Can't comment on the writing I don't read fan fiction.

You're right. I don't like it. Not one tiny little bit.
But you are also right about something else, it is a valid and genuine opinion, however it's also a valid opinion
that has no valid reason to be in a thread that's eager to see said
characters return in a positive light.
This is the thread for people who were upset about how their favorite characters were portrayed in Mass Effect 2 and of whom don't like the rather negative direction that they are headed. Okay you have the right to say whatever you want but here this comes across far more as just an aggressive taunt.
If you have nothing positive to add or even anything to give depth to the conversation outside of flippantly dismissing the whole conversation then I am left with the realization that for starters you were probing around in a thread that shouldn't have any interest to you and then responded with a post only to incite negativity.
I don't call that 'valid opinion' I call that 'trolling'. And frankly I think it's very low to troll a fanbase who's recieivng enough disrespect without you adding onto it.
Sorry if I caused any offence by the way. I don't really want this to get personal. Least of all on a thread I quite like.

I believe the exact quote is "I could use someone like you on my crew. It'll be just like old times."SilentK wrote...
I don't think it's so awful that Kaidan or Ash choose to go with the military, for me it seems to be in character =) the thing that bothers me is what my shepard says. Don't remember the exact wording but saying something like I could use you on my crew to Kaidan whom she loves deeply *cringe*
But I'm hoping for a good story-arc in hopefully dlc or absolutely in ME3
Very, very inadequate and must be remedied.
