Just asking here, how many of you ppl feel optimistic/pessimistic that 'Arrival' will actually feature the VS in it and why?
I maybe more in the pessimist side (pls pls pls Bioware prove me wrong!) we've been getting screenies / hints about the upcoming dlc but no mention of whatsoever about the VS so far -___-'
A pessimist is what an optimist calls a realist, I am a realist I will not get excited until we have confirmation.

Admittedly, I'm basing the next statement on the mass relay screenshot, but it seems likely.
I'm assuming this Arrival DLC is about the Reapers finding a way into our galaxy, hence the name.
The screenshot is probably of the Mass Relay they are planning to use.
Of course, an alternate scenario could be that a formerly unknown race respond to the reactivation of a dormant mass relay and come to visit.
Hopefully they're allies......
A third possibility is the Rachni are finally coming out to integrate with the galactic community.
They had a more detailed knowledge of the mass relay network then we do, so it's possible they may know of uncharted relays that are yet to be discovered.

Is that really Hackett? Could it not be Mikhailovich?

Maybe we see Ash/Kaidan too, but I try not to be too excited.

He looks exactly like I imagined him to look! Nice.
Now he just needs to send Kaidan and Ash with Shepard, please.

If nothing else, the presence of Hackett does suggest some kind of degree of involvement with the Alliance. If there were ever a better chance to put the VS back into the picture, I can't imagine what it would be.
But wouldn't you figure the BIGGER draw would've been mentioning the VS directly and not Hackett?
I'm sadly, apprehensive that we won't be seeing Kaidan or Ash in this DLC...

I have to agree as much as I really, really hope they are in it I think it would of been mentioned rather than hackett.

Thinking about this from a standpoint of what would make advertising sense, even if The Virmire Survivor *does* feature in this DLC, I can see why they might not be mentioned in this press release. Unlike Hackett, The Virmire Survivor is one of two possible characters, and it seems to me like it would be awkward to say "and featuring in this DLC is one of two possible characters depending on how you played ME1, except oops ME2 is 'the perfect jumping on point' for the franchise so you might not have even played ME1 in which case it depends on whether you play as a male or female Shepard, and even then only if..."
What I mean by this is it would be hard to promote an appearance by The Virmire Survivor in a way that makes sense when all the angles are considered. Unlike Lair, where Bioware/EA were free to assume everything because they already had the road paved in gold and olive branches for the messianic return.

Good point. Also the screenshots are careful not to show anyone with Shepard so either Shepard is solo or they aren't showing the squadmate(s) for that very reason.

I think you're just being too optimistic. I think it is officially safe to say that we will not be seeing Ashley/Kaiden until Mass Effect 3.
