Uh, why did you update the front page with info that isn't verified? You still don't know, and won't until Tuesday.

I will double-check after I wrote this, but I said that, regardless if they are or aren't in DLC, people still want the thread to continue.  So, it'll become the ME3 Wishlist thread Tuesday.

I didn't say whether they were confirmed or not.  I said regardless if they are or not, because we don't know.

Edit:

Arrival is only a few days away, and although things look bleak for Ashley and Kaidan right now, let's hope BioWare has given us a nice surprise in their last DLC!  Everyone who has supported seeing Ashley and Kaidan in DLC deserves a pat on the back, and let's hope we're not disappointed!

Regardless if they are in the DLC or not, after Tuesday, I will be changing the thread and group name to "Kaidan and Ashley ME3 Wishlist," and the "Kaidan and Ashley ME3 Support Group."  This is at the behest of some who want to see this thread and the support group continue, and who believe that the points in this thread are applicable to the characterization of our two favourite marines in ME3.

It's true: things do look bleak for now.  We have no info as to whether or not they are in it thus far.

I still don't see the "bleak" part. A single journalist made a vague comment based on what is at best (especially considering Bioware's tight-lipped treatment of Arrival as a whole) incomplete info.

And again, with the Horizon evidence I'd say it more than balances out. I'm so confident in this that I'm finally doing my Ashley romance run of ME2, something I had neglected to do earlier because of how unsatisfying it was.

Fair enough.  I'll change it.

Steimer confirmed that we couldn't rekindle the romance with them like we could with Liara. That doesn't mean they aren't in the DLC.

Who is Steimer?

Edit: Wait....the IGN person? Did they even play more than what we've seen? How is this "confirmation." Have you forgotten the golden rule? It isn't confirmation unless Bioware says it.

Edit Mk 2: GUYS....did you even read the article? She specifcally says she only saw part of it. THAT IS NOT CONFIRMATION. Jeez.

I don't think the VS got shafted in ME2. If anything, they got a guarantee they'll be in ME3 in a big way. The devs said they kept the VS out of the squad to guarantee the VS a place in ME3. I think ME2 squad survivors have a good chance of coming back (to some degree) in ME3 - but there's only so many variables they can consider. Putting the VS story in concrete in ME2 makes it just that much easier to write them into ME3.

I say rejoice VS fans! ME3 will serve them well.

In the same chat claiming they saved the ME1 LI's for ME3, Hudson also claimed people put too much emphasis on whether they were a squadmate.  Something to remember.

This "saved for an important role"?  Could feasibly be be anything.  Could be squadmate from start to finish (with or without a climactic self-sacrifice scene so that Shepard can save the day), but could as easily be fetching Hackett's dress shoes in a cutscene so that Hackett can show up to the Battle of Five Species properly clod, which could be very important indeed.

@Sheridan--I wrote a whole keep-the-optimsim thing a page back. Feel free to look at it if you'd like. It analyzes the article more in-depth.

She also had Jesse Houston sitting right next to her while she went through it, so she could have asked him.  If she didn't ask him and put that blurb in there about the VS based on only the first mission then she is a very poor previewer.  I'm inclined to think that she did ask since she's a Kaidan fan and that Jesse said no.  So if he said no it would be "official" from BioWare.  Unfortunately she doesn't make a distinction on where she came up with no VS so we're left to sit here and chase our tails speculating.

EDIT: Also, what Brodyaha says on the last page.

If Jesse was cleared to tell her that, why haven't they just told the forums? It's not like they don't read posts.

To keep us in suspense? So people who hate Ashley and Kaidan buy the game without knowing they're in it? So people who love Ashley and Kaidan buy it just in case they're in it? Or because revealing as to whether or not they are in it would reveal a huge spoiler?

*Shrug*

Edit: or what Digifi said.

The cynic in me agrees with the bolded part.

Holding out vain hope it's the last one though.

The remark on IGN is based on an incomplete playthrough. So if the guy claimed they are not in the DLC. He is making assumptions he has no business doing. BioWare has been excessively meticulous in maintaining secrecy. Personally, I doubt they will be in it but I suppose will shall soon find out.

I agree as well. It's EA after all.

And here's where I have to stop you.  Whether or not the VS got shafted in ME2 must be limited to ME2.  If you're going to bring up potential for great VS interaction in ME3 you might as well bring up the events of ME1.  Was the VS shafted in ME2?  Yes, undoubtably yes (Unless they get some love in Arrival), they got less screen time than any other squadmate (except Wrex if he's dead) and definitely got less than Liara (lowsy smurf).  Now maybe Bioware did keep them out of ME2 and will keep them out of Arrival for good reasons and they'll have a big part to play in ME3; I don't know.  What I do know is that the VS and their fans got the short stick in ME2 (so far).

I am hoping for a really cool rescue still.

Would love to see Kaidan use his biotics to shatter a bunch of glass into an army of batarians while lifting Shepard out of the way using Pull or something. XD

Respectfully, the devs have put it on public record that they kept the VS out of ME2 squad for ME3 - here's a link where Casey Hudson talks about it.  That's why I don't go with the "so far" part.

Cheers! :)

Great that they're not part of the Suicide Mission. One Virmire-scenario with both of them was enough already.

I don't see how we couldn't have had a conversation with them other than an argument on Horizon, however.
