First off:
OH MY GOSH HELL YES!
*jumps up and down*
Now skepticism:
I hope Kaidan doesn't have Jacob's body model.
It looks like Ashley has a bit of a Miranda makeover.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that we get the VS back, but it looks like I'm getting a kick in the quads to balance out the good news.
I always have a Krogan on my team, whether it's Wrex or Grunt, that does not matter.
And Legion was the next most used teammate.
So, if this information is correct (and I'll be very sad if it is!), I'll be loosing my 2 (3 if we're counting Wrex) most favorite squadmates.
Darn, I was hoping to introduce Ashley to Grunt and see if it sparked some comedy gold.
Or at least some reminescing.
Wrex seemed very fond of Ashley, so it would be interesting to see what kind of relationship she'd have with Grunt.
Legion, well, I always take him to meet the Quarians, just to see how they react!
And also to teach them not to be so biased towards the Geth.
Sigh, looks I lose my 100% pure soldier team again.
For context, I only had 1 soldier, Grunt.
Legion or Garrus took the place which would normally be assigned to the non-existent 2nd soldier.
I guess Garrus is going to be taking over Legion's duties in Mass Effect 3.
Well, at least I ought to get some fun out of him and Ashley teamed up.
*takes Grunt and Legion plushies to the corner to cuddle while sobbing like a baby*

Nobody has been confirmed as "Sir only Cameod in this picture."

They're not going to tell us everything yet, don't worry - do cheerful things now with your plushies and stuff... um... yeah.

It's also nice to see that people will get less content and a smaller squad depending on their suicide mission outcome. I'd also be really suprised (but slightly amused at the Talimancer rage) if Tali didn't return. I'm just really happy to see Liara, Garrus and Kaidan (in my main playthrough) back. I wonder if Kaidan has an outfit redesign, too?
Also looks like the pessimists were wrong. Again.

They were confirmed to be in ME3. There was nothing as to what their role would be. Now we know they're at least squadmates (who knows for how long), and we have pictures and some info on them, especially so soon after Arrival.
That's why we're all excited.

Bioware said the reason they weren't squadmates in ME2 was so they would be in ME3...

I think you don't understand the surprise. Nobody doubted that they would be totally recruitable. We remember the many months to undergo the words of those who claimed to be the Bioware 's spokespersons.
"Yes, Bioware decided to reduce the role of these characters, remove them because they are useless, or nobody likes them, etc."
It could end by thinking too ...
After a long long time, Bioware showing no signs for a year, remains silent and VS still not appearing in any DLC, it was normal not to have any hope to see them play a big role ...
Ash / Kaidan, people were resigned to only see them as cameo, as many believe that Bioware decided to set aside theses characters of an alleged neglect by pragmatism.
But the sky has responded to more than our small expectations haha. Hence my joy, since I learn that in fact Ash/kaidan is fully recruited, with a great rôle. A total surprise, Honestly I don't think anyone expected that.
And the better, characters seems to have changed, just by looking at the picture, I think she will be able to teach me new things.
Yes Bioware realized that Ash M1, many years later, wasn't Ash from M1 in M3. She made her life, has changed, has evolved like Shepard. Now I'm sure we still have much to learn from her.

That's why you don't listen to randoms who speak out of their rears and instead opt to listen to the devs themselves, like when Casey specifically said Ashley/Kaidan were going to play a big role in ME3, and that they weren't available in ME2 so they could be squadmates in ME3.

It's not really the problem of listenning, but trust. That's why you don't listen to randoms who speak out of their rears and instead opt to listen to the devs themselves, like when Casey specifically said Ashley/Kaidan were going to play a big role in ME3.
In DA2, they said that Hawke's character is the most important in Thedas, we saw what it gave. This is totally false.
There have been many announcements in DA2, which in truth were lies or exaggerated facts.
Sometimes the annoucements aren't always true, and the fans are used to that, So it's hard sometimes to believe it. Sometimes because of the hard realities, difficulties, money, pragmatism, Bioware can not always keep all promises. And we know that.
But in this case, yes, Casey is our champion
Now, the next announcement, I no doubt most of its promises.
But I must admit that I was not aware of this sentence.

Without getting off topic, I form my own judgements based on what I observe, and based on what I had seen so far, I reserve the right to be skeptical. This is very optimistic news.
