I am also hoping for a continuation of the romance, and not having to start all over again with only a few lines here and there thrown in for reference. While not necessarily pick up where Shepard left off (Shepard has been dead for two years after all), Ithere is still a previous relationship established.

But who knows? For however the game plays out, the relationship was tenuous at best, with only a few months to get to know each other. :/

Eh... I still think it would have been better and more innovative to carry the relationship over three games properly. At this point, the best you can hope for is that complete re-courting won't be necessary.

Established relationships and getting to know each other aren't boring, damn it!

Oh, of course it would have been better and more innovative. But then Shepard decided to die. And come back to life.

*Wakes up thread to beat dead horse*

I played through Horizon, saw Ashley, and sighed.  Either the woman has
the best minimizer bra in existence under that armor or she gets plastic
surgery between ME2 and ME3.  And then I felt like a creep for staring
at her chest.  Thanks a lot, Bioware.  :pinched:

More OT: I expect a few different dialogue options if the player romanced Kaidan or Ashley, but I don't mind having the "testing" phase of a relationship repeated.  People evolve over time.

you assume too much

you assume that by "pay" I mean stiucking a GPS up their rear and pull the trigger, I do not. I do on the other hand want to call them out on the BS, harshly if possible

Secondly, I arrived to them on Horizon with Mordin and Garrus AFTER being re-instated as a spectre AND getting Anderson's blessings to continue what I was doing

The result? Ashly metaphorically putting her fingers in her ears and going "LALALALALALA can't hear you LALALALA I do not care that 2 aliens are there helping right infront of my eyes you on of which is Garrus himself you are now a cerberus traitor in spite of my knowledge of you LALALALA can't hear you LALALALALALALALA Don't care what Anderson says, don't care I committed mutiny with you 2 years ago to fight on ilos and stop the reaper vanguard which is now being "dismissed", don't care you are still a spectre I'm reporting to the Alliance -which anderson is already dealing with- and walking away LALALALALA"

LALALALALA for good measure

horrible writing, horrible shoehorning....nevertheless I STILL want to confront them on it

and that is my wish for ME3

The VS and Shepard both need a slap to the face for the Horizon "argument". Even if the VS reacts harsh, every single line from Shepards sounds like a big bunch of "herp derp". *shrugs* The plot dictates.

also

I FULLY believe one of the resons behind that was that Bioware wanted to push players to the new LIs and "track the cheaters"

I resent that

They had to promote the new LI's somehow. Gaming God forbid that nobody wants the priiize and everybody stays faithful. Image IPB

Yes, that's bugging me as well.
<engage heavy sarcasm mode>
Oh look, a gaming female who doesn't wear a size D cup, we must fix that!

It's too early to tell, but I hope Bioware come to their senses and remake Ashley to be more in line with her ME1 persona.
Simple clothing off duty, heavy armor on duty and no barbie doll proportions!

I still don't see how they could do that, besides tracking the Paramour achivement. But many people have multiple Shepards, with some faithfuls and some cheats for variety. Hopefully BioWare doesn't assume, "nobody likes Ashley/Kaidan/Liara because they went after the sexy new LIs."

The same thought occurred to me about the multiple Shepards and the romance metrics. Has anyone with Bioware explained specifically how they count "cheaters"?

simple, flagging. Each shepard has a number of flags.....all Bioware needs is data on the flags for each shepard. Hell they have percentage data on how many shepards are soldiers, how far they are in the game, which weapons they use most and so on and so forth

Flag one "shepard X had a LI in ME1"
Flag two "LI survived Virmire (if it was Kaiden/Ash)"
Flag three "Shepard X romanced someone else in ME2"

CHEATERRRRRRR

remember also as of Lair of the Shadow Broker Liara is also an active LI for ME2 and apparently a lot of people made extra playthyroughs SOLELY to either get back with her or remain faithful to her thanks to the new developements (I did too)

Meh, I only see that as cheating if you want to get back with the ME1 LI in ME3.

I think this is far and away the majority view - I just hope it's not our only option.   I don't want to my Shepard to be forced to be angry about this when she wasn't!

@crimzontearz-- there are also still Sheps who stayed single in ME1 but romanced somebody in ME2? That still counts for the paramour achivement. BioWare would also need to take into account that some people deleted saves that they 'cheated' on.

Why would they even need to look at the achievement?  It's not like the save file doesn't record romances.  If you had no ME1 LI, your save file knows it.  It's not that difficult.

In ME1, Ash says if we want to see her in a tinfoil skirt and thigh high boots, that we have to buy her dinner first. I would like to be able to take her to a nice restaurant on either Earth or the Citadel.

The events on Horizon lead me to believe that Ash breaks up with you. If Miranda was wooed by paragon Shep she might leave Cerberus to go look after her sister, who is likely no longer under Cerberus's protection. Leaving us free to re-woo Ash.

No, I'm pretty sure the only way you might be broken-up for good with either VS is if you choose the more hostile "You just won't listen" options during that conversation.  The devs have never really clarified what the mechanics of that are though, so it's hard to know.

Perhaps more of a short separation kinda thing? Hope she forgives the minor dalliance with Miranda.

Liara originally pretty much told you to **** off too

people constructed several excuses "omg she is broken up, you have to understand"...."she feels bad for what she did so even when YOU forgive her she does not forgive herself"..."a 120 billion dollars starship with an AI and a full scientific lab with spectre level bandwidth clearence is not suited for her research (PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT)"

but ultimately it was solely, in my opinion, to push the player away and in the arms of the new love interests

Well, the VS is definitely going to have a huge role in ME3. An understandable reason for Bioware to push them away for ME2.

Having them lose it and forcing Shepard to stay quiet? New LIs!

For some people, at least. I doubt the majority of players care at all.

I want a scene like Dr. Chakwas', where the player shares a drink with their VS, Chakwas, Joker and maybe Garrus, Liara and Wrex.

Drunken banter!! :o:O:O How I'd love to see that happen. It could turn out very very funny, or if it's just between Shep & LI it could be very very sexy  If being done right.

I also like the ending after drinking with Chakwas, giving the illusion that Shep got a bit woozy under the influence of alcohol. Small detail, but it was a nice touch ^_^

I would love drunken banter as well with everybody. Or heck, just sharing drinks like with Liara. Maybe certain people after specific missions?

Of course, I don't expect Sheps will be buddy-buddy with everyone. There should be a chance for all kinds of responses from Shep and squaddies--nostalgic, happy, sad, angry, accusatory, sarcastic, etc etc.
