I'll clarify, when did we get a picture of her redesign?  I've only seen a picture of her from the shoulders up and, while I can see why someone would feel like her design *might* have gone in the direction of Miranda, I don't see a reason to jump to that conclusion.

I've seen a picture of her from about mid-abdomen up.
See this picture I created as a joke about the matter (which contains the ME3 Ashley redesign):
Image IPB
As you can see, there's more then her shoulders visible.
And compare that to my Shepherd (who is obviously female!) standing nearby.

And for a model comparison:
Image IPB
By the way, the standard ME female bodyshape is still using the one on the left, just in a different uniform, so it's going to look very strange that Ashley is suddenly not using that one anymore.

I suppose it might be possible to romance them again in ME3 if you didn't choose one of them in ME1.
Subject to gender guidelines that is, i.e: if you have a FemShep like me, then Ashley isn't up for consideration.
BioWare have also stated that cheating on your ME1 LI (with an ME2 LI) will have consequences, so cheating on your ME2 LI with an ME3 LI will most likely have consquences as well.

I think it looks good. Although to be honest, I don't recall how it was before.

It looks alright to me.

My major VS concerns are:

1. Ashley gets rid of the barbie doll look.
2. She gets real armor, preferably heavy class.
3. And the VS get distinct dialogues/personalities, not just the same thing read by two different voice actors.

I want to see LIs (not just Ash/Kaidan) to make the first move to come and talk about Shepard's feelings and life sometimes.

Regarding the execution of ME in-game Romance, it's usually up to Shepard to take initiative and go talk to LIs, and not really another way around. That's understandable in the ME1 since a lot of people (including me) don't want to see a romance or an interest forced on the player.

Regardless, what happened in ME1 to me was
1) Go talk to LI to start romance plot
2) Go talk to LI again after major mission to advance romance plot
3) Repeat step 2 a few times more
4) Ilos

It wasn't entirely bad, of course, and in a way it did make sense, considering it would be inappropriate for LI like Ash/Kaidan to come up to Shep and talk about *personal* stuff, seeing he/she is her/his superior. And the LI did come to see Shepard before Ilos, and to me, it felt right for them to approach Shep at that particular time (the deal with 'we might not survive this so I wanna 'fess up', even it sounds very cliche). If it was bad, I wouldn’t like ME this much.

(I don’t know much about romance started in ME2, though, since I remained faithful to my ME1 romance. So I’m not gonna comment on the execution of ME2 romance. )

However, for ME3, where established relationship already exists, I want to see some of the caring and the fussing over reciprocated by Shep's LI, as well as them taking an initiative to come talk to us. (Not to mention that Ash/Kaidan is already a spectre and not really under Shep's command anymore, so they wouldn’t be breaking any rules blah, blah, and Liara *is* a SB now).

Personally I want to see them initiate the following
1) ‘Where do we go from here in our relationship’ conversation
2) An occasion (or a few) where they show concerns over Shepard’s well being
3) Bioware is feeling very generous; maybe give Shepard his/her own personal mission where he/she will require help/support from LI and teammates (loyalty mission equivalent for Shep!).

I hope I’m not being unrealistic in my expectation(s), but things like this would make the game much more memorable, and therefore, an experience to be treasured for me.

im just hoping that ashley/kaiden are available relatively early on in the story, and we dont get short-sided with dialogue. the horizon encounter was like the worst teaser ever, to see your fav old squaddie for 5 minutes and have them chew you out, then shepard cant reply with anything useful.

i would just like to see them available early on, and give soldiers immunity ability back!! ohh i would be so happy, then maybe that class wouldnt blow any more. as of right now its easier to survive as a biotic with shields, than a soldier with health, really??

This is what I am most concerned about. I really missed Kaidan in ME2 and I can't wait to see him again, because he's one of the few you can't talk to and Liara gets her own damn DLC (not bitter nuuuu..) he and Ash should really be there from beginning to end and offer some stellar dialogue to make up for not being around.

If they get the same amount of exposure as all the other squaddies with a quick love scene at the very end of the game, like all the other love scenes, I'm going to be rather disappointed.

Even with ME1's single love scene with interchangable models ME2 pretty much dropped the ball with it's 6.

ya the weak intimacy scene right before you beat the game is lame sauce :/
especially if i get ashley back early game ME3, i should be able to hop in bed with her instantly. my shepard had to rub one out to her picture before the trip thru omega relay :(
long lost-long overdue dialogue with ashley/kaiden, we had to make that terribly tough choice on virmire, and they dont even let us reap the benefits of keeping that squaddie alive.

HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Not too happy with the really, really light armour and new body mod, but I can deal with it.  IT'S ASHLEY AND WE GOT A HEROIC RESCUE!)

Now we can expect the same with Kaidan too. <3

Yes, I would like Ashley available right from the start.

I'm assuming this is the case, as you most likely pick up the VS and run out into the galaxy looking for more allies.

I'm afraid I'll never get over the light armor thing, sadly.
Ashley is a Soldier and she should wear Heavy Armor.
I'm more concerned about practicalities then whether or not Ashley looks sexy on the battlefield.

To me, it looks very pathethic, they want Ashley to emulate Miranda in terms of appearance to engage the "sleazy male" demographic.
I think Ashley is beautiful just the way she is (or was!), there was no need to make her different.
I can live with long hair (as long as she tucks it into a helmet or ties it back into a ponytail during battle), but the rest, I'm not going to be very tolerant of.

Sorry if that sounds a bit hostile, but it's my honest opinion as to what they did with Ashley.

There's a new topic in the ME3 Group.

Post any pictures, videos, or other media that you know features Ashley and Kaidan. It will be properly formatted and utilized kind of as a database. I'll do my best to find other media too.

Can you provide a direct link to the group and/or post please?
I couldn't find it with a cursory inspection.

I am a lot concerned that I'm seeing posts along the line of:

I love Ashley's new look.
Ashley's new look is awesome.
Ashley looks so great now.

To me personally, this is quite annoying.
They turn a practical soldier into a barbie doll and suddenly, everyone's interested in her?

Man, I was hoping our fanbase wasn't this shallow.

Of course, I may be misreading the fanbase, but it's still a cause for concern.

I want the old Ashley back, not a barbie doll in spandex!

I predicted Ashley would get a lot more "popular", unfortunately not for the reasons many of us would prefer. :(

This, and you don't need to sacrifice one for the other, ME1 Ash was sexy on the battlefield while still being practical.

This too.  I'm still holding on to the hope that Ash won't change with her appearance but that's looking more and more like a fool's hope.  Please Bioware, I know you're under pressure to make sales, but don't ruin one of my favourite characters in ME, please.

You know, I am somewhat expecting their initial meeting to be hostile at first with a small dose of finger pointing for good measure. On the one side, the VS not really getting why Shep blew up a solar system, and on the other hand Shep not appreciating them not understanding just WHAT he has been through trying to protect the galaxy when NO ONE believes him right up until the Reapers actually show up on Earth's doorstep, which to Shep will probably be hard ENOUGH as it is. :P

I appreciated the little differences about Kaidan and Ashley. Maybe I'm too obsessive over it, but I was thinking of how Kaidan was kind of a casual swearer, whereas Ashley swore, but when she was angry.

So, I updated the OP again. Everytime I look at it, it seems there's a mistake I missed in the formatting. =/

I'm also not sure what to put regarding the armour. Many people seem to love Ash's new look (or at least looking in the Ash thread). Others seem to hate it. So I deleted that part in the thread.

Anderson stays behind, apparently :/

I'm hoping to visit an area of great importance to Kaidan and Ashley in ME3. Perhaps Gagarin Station/Vancouver for Kaidan and Amaterasu for Ashley?

i agree with you there, i loved the old (soldier) ashley from ME1. my third squaddie would always varry depending on the mission, but ashley would be my second in command for every mission :D. i cannot count how many times it was just me and ash on insanity, killing off the last few big guys together. i really missed having a ash in my squad for ME2.

i was just fine with her old appearance, but i must admit her helmet hair was a little goofy lol. the new look is just fine with me, as long as they dont moprh her personality to fit the looks. ive always thought she would look great in blue, that article in GI had a pretty good photo of the upgraded ash. either way ME3 just needs to have her/kaiden available very early on in the game. the mid-way 5 minute reuniun at horizon sucked so hard, if i could control my shepard he would of bailed on cerberus and joined the alliance with ash right there!! :o
