How about making a list of the summarized ideas within the OP?

I'm hoping this thread gets stickied, and if the dev's look at it, a list of the summarized details can be on the page. They can then look through the forums if they feel like it for ideas, or just stick with general request guidelines in the OP. I don't know if it'll get noticed that way, but it's less invasive than direct contact with a dev, which could backfire.

I personally would like to see a consolidated list, simply because, despite my constant lurking, I haven't been able to keep track of all the great ideas being thrown around. Stupid need for sleep. I think that would facilitate more in-depth discussions and maybe encourage us to stay on topic.

Speaking of on topic, I would really like to see some DLC that doesn't entirely revolve around fighting. ME2 seemed much more combat heavy than the first game, so I'd love to be able to give my Shepard a break. That's one of the reasons I loved the Kasumi DLC, I got to go to a party! And wear a really short skirt? Anyway, a bit of combat in there would be fine (this is a shooter, after all), but it's be nice to have an adventure where I didn't just kick down the door and kill everything in sight. Maybe you and the VS could go undercover together to try to infiltrate some secret organization, or sweet-talk a key Cerberus witness into turnings states evidence and reveling the location of Cerberus strongholds. And then kick down the door and kill everything in sight.

I like the non-combat missions as well. Perhaps if it's an Alliance mission pack (the other DLCs are mission packs, right?) there can be an infiltration or diplomacy mission of some kind? (I could give or take the kicking down the door and killing everything in sight, personally.)

And I'd really like to see Shepard showing some reaction to being dead and coming back. It must have had some impact on him/her. Dying and coming back to life was treated like an everyday occurence in ME2 and had barely any consequences in conversations or character development except the odd "Oh, didn't you die? Yeah? Okay, on with the show then." here and there.

Luger [Samuel L. Jackson]:  Didn't you die?
Becker [Jon Lovitz]:  I thought this was the sequel.

I am going to make myself unpopular with some people by saying this, but I feel it has to be said. With regards to the call for Ashley and Kaidan to be made available as romantic interests for player-characters of the same sex in a DLC pack, I must answer with a firm "No".

Why? I can hear the arguments already, and my answer is that despite what plans may or may not have been in place to make them bisexual love interests in ME1, it didn't happen, and like it or not the characters have now been established. Changing their sexuality now, in DLC, no less, would be shoddy and out-of-character. We have so many enraged cries for continuity in Bioware games on these forums, I feel that a love interest's established sexuality should be included in that plea.

If Bioware see fit to add additional bisexual love interests in ME3, it is certainly their prerogative to do so, but I think as fans of Ashley and Kaidan we must ask that their characters be upheld, since I'm pretty sure that is what this thread is all about.

I don't like those postings (salt into wound) because
I envy you alot and many other Kaidan/Ash fans who can romance him/her and be happy. You should be grateful.
I can't be happy in real life, I can't be happy in games, I wish they had made them bi LIs in ME1 or at least deleted the unused audio files from disk.
But this lone wolf thing is funny too, just weird that I started to imagine killing Kaidan when he pops up in my mind lol like punching him with an ice fist, so he freezes and falls into pieces because I can't have him haha
That's how the universe works and you're lucky that you're on the winner team. I think I will stop coming to Bioware boards there's no point in that.

To be fair, I'm not sure if either Ash or Kaidan ever blatantly stated their sexual preferences (correct me if I'm wrong), so how do we know it would be out of character? It's the future, who knows how humanity's sexuality has evolved. Not sure it would fit well in DLC, however. I don't think there would be enough time to adequately explore the relationship.

I'm certainly not against same-sex relationships in ME3.
I'm just concerned about how well introducing Kaidan or Ashley as a new relationship option would fit into DLC, regardless of gender; the option's been requested a few times.
I suppose all it would take is a few well-made dialogue options to go from friendship to romance, for either gender.

Shepard: Kaidan, I've had feelings for you since we were on the first Normandy together.  I wasn't sure if you reciprocated those feelings.  Sorry if this makes you uncomfortable, but....I regret not telling you my feelings the first time.  I just need to know.....would you...eventually want the same thing?
Kaidan: I...think I'd need some time to process that, Shepard.  But, yeah.  I'd like that.  (quoted from ME1)

The thing is that their sexual preferences have been set by the fact that they can only be romanced by a Shepard of the opposite sex, and their alignment can only be influenced by a Shepard of the opposite sex who romances them. It wouldn't seem right if they suddenly turned bi in ME3. It really doesn't matter what bioware does, they are never going to please everyone. In DAO they provided both Zev and Lelianna as same sex romances but everyone still wanted Alistair and Morrigan instead/as well. Personally it wouldn't have worried me if it had been done from the start but it would be out of character, in my mind anyway, if they suddenly were bi in ME3.

and back to dlc - I'd love to see some VS dlc with some sort of Alliance slant. I want to know what the VS has been doing for the 2 years that Shepard was dead. I want the lines of communication open between Shepards and the VS, doesn't have to be a full on reconcilliation but at least let Shepard answer the damn email if nothing else. I'd also like to be able to actually get some information out of Anderson instead of being fobbed off with the 'my doors always open, I'm here if you want to talk' line. When you do go to talk to him he doesn't tell you anything anyway.

I also want to see Hackett, and I want some explanation of why the Alliance never bothered to go to the Normandy crash site in 2 years (especially as the reason given was that the families of the dead needed closure as well as putting up a monument) and why Hackett sent Shepard an email asking him/her to go. How did he know Shepard was alive, was he somehow in the know about Cerberus trying to bring Shepard back, was it a test to see if Shepard was still really Shepard or loyal to the Alliance?

Maybe Kaidan could be an assistant instructor for the Ascension Project's biotic children (more details in Mass Effect: Ascension), and there's a huge issue there (without rehashing Ascension's plot, of course). That's an Alliance initiative. I could see Ashley foreseeing aid operations in another human colony, which I think are also Alliance initiatives (could be wrong).

i wish some of the "dur" horizon dialog could be reclaimed. as in:

Shepard: It's been a long time, Ash/Kaidan... I mean, damn it. Heh. I haven't gotten any better at this.

or

Ashley/Kaidan (post DLC mission): I need to report back to the Citadel. They can decide if they believe you or not.

(pause)

You coming with me?

Shepard:
paragon - Of course.
neutral - let me know what they say.
renegade - hell no.
renegade/intimidate - come with me. i have candy on the Normandy

(okay, maybe not that last one) ;)

If people who romanced either Kaidan or Ashley want that option.
I doubt it would fit into the story arc though.
But, Paragon/Renegade interrupts would allow Shepard to really convey what s/he is feelings during a mission.
Either as a friendship or romance.  Because you can be heartbroken at having a friendship go down the drain.

Borrowed from sagequeen and expanded upon (hope you don't mind, sagequeen)

Ashley/Kaidan (post DLC mission): I need to report back to the Citadel. They can decide if they believe you or not.
(pause)
You coming with me?

Shepard:
paragon - [Of course.]   I've already been through hell and back and survived.  It's prepared me for any confrontations with Alliance brass.

neutral - [let me know what they say.]  I have more enemies to fight, mercs to defeat.  And I know you have your duties too.  But...I hope we work together again.

renegade - [hell no.]  You've abandoned me when I needed help, and you're abandoning me again?  You know what'll happen if Alliance brass gets their hands on me.  I didn't come to see you just so I could be dragged back to the brass and executed for treason.

paragon charm friendship [join me]: I don't suppose I could convince you to come with me; I meant what I said on Horizon.  I know my story's impossible to believe.  Would you be interested to come?  If it helps, there'll be plenty of merc, geth, and collector faces to shoot.

paragon charm romance [join me.] I don't suppose I could convince you to come with me; I meant what I said on Horizon.  I know my story's impossible to believe.  If it helps,  I have a queen-sized bed on the Normandy.

Renegade intimidate [you're coming with me]-- (Ashley and/or Kaidan ambushed by squadmates):  it's the other way around buddy.  You're an invaluable asset to my team.  It's time for you to see my new ship and crew.  And I have candy.

Assuming Ash & Kaid are being saved for ME3, they likely wouldn't join your squad.  But they could reply:

Paragon response: You'll have to face the Alliance sooner or later.  Don't worry Shepard; I'm right behind you.

Neutral response:  Of course.  Take care, Shepard/Skipper.

Renegade response:
Kaidan:  YOU think I'VE abandoned......Fine!  Have it your way.  In the meantime, the Alliance is waiting for a report from me (starts walking away angrily, then turns around).  Just, be careful out there, Shepard.  maybe we'll meet again.
Ashley: Do what you want!  Go back to Cerberus, then!  I can't waste time, I have to report back to the Alliance (maybe turns away, then looks back).  Just...be careful out there, Skipper.  Maybe God will allow us to meet again.

Paragon charm, friendship: response.
Thanks for the offer, Shepard/Skipper. But, I have some Alliance duties to take care of.  Can't say blasting some geth would be less exciting than writing a report.  Just, be careful out there, Shepard.  maybe we'll meet again./Just...be careful out there, Skipper.  Maybe God will allow us to meet again.

Paragon charm, romance response:
Kaidan: (Laughs) Shepard, you are hard to step away from...I meant what I said in that email, Shepard...I would like to be together again.  But...now's not the right time.  (Hug or a kiss)
Ashley: (Laughs) Not so fast.   (Kiss or a hug)  If you want to see me dance in a short skirt, I'll need dinner first, skipper.

Renegade response:  (muffled noises--the squadmates are ambushing him!)

There's some ideas, I've added to it over a while...hope it's alright.  Might recognize some dialogue from ME1, which I've borrowed.

I dunno if I'd really want any rehashing of old lines. It lends a kind of catchphrase quality to them that... can't really explain it - cheapens the effect?

It's not bad for two people who know each other well to joke around with, but at the same time I'd rather have mostly new material in the dialogue. (I mean, I don't even know; if I'm the only one who'd have a problem with it, I'd rather have callbacks than nothing at all...)

On the other hand, if someone can swing the "Joker's waiting for you on the bridge," line... XD

Sorry, I'm just using the lines as examples because I couldn't think of good stuff to convey their characters.  I'd certainly love new dialogue; I don't want rehash material in the DLC.  If I wanted those lines, I'd play ME1 yet again.

I think if BioWare had to go through the trouble of writing a DLC that it wouldn't be an extra stretch to create new dialogue for Ashley and Kaidan.

that wasn't my intention at all. i was just thinking that liara's line in me2 "have you ever faced an asari commando unit before" was a clear nod to benezia's same line.  i thought it would be fun if one or two of the *least* or *most* favorite lines from kaidan/ash made a slight reappearance. kaidan feeling human again, something about ash still being in top physical shape. nothing like pulling everything that was done before - just a nod to previous lines.

though i would love for shep to redeem the :dur" moment of "how you doing?"

I wouldn't mind a nod to previous lines or something that reflected previous dialogue, I would prefer nothing that was a direct quotation of earlier (same character) stuff.  IMO, the only reason Liara's line worked at all was because it was Benezia's and not Liara's.  If Liara at some point asked...  what'shisname, the krogan if he ever faced an asari commando before while you're recruiting her, the line wouldn't have worked  for me (even if she'd been bluffing then and not now).

So... I would facepalm at Kaidan saying, "You made me feel human," but I would probably smile a bit if it were reconstructed along the lines of, "I miss the way you made me feel."  Or something.

And as much as I'd like the "How you doing" to get fixed, I almost don't trust their ability to pull it off.  :innocent:

thats even worse than Bioware nerfing Shepard at Horizion.  so you would be nice to someone that treats you like crap and calls you a alliance sell out. after being dead for 2 years. no thank you to that idea both my shepards want to get revenge on them in the worse way.

*sigh* Well, judging by my wonderful skills to hook up an airport and Xbox Live, I won't be playing any DLC anytime soon.
Can I suggest that as part of the DLC, you can go to a movie theatre with Ashley or Kaidan and see Blasto: The Jellyfish Stings? Something fun, like Kasumi's DLC, or Samara's loyalty mission.

This'll be my 4th post today. I feel like a constant lurker.  Oh well.
People suggested a non-combat aspect of the DLC? Where might this take place?
CITADEL: Dark Star Lounge, or a place such as a rebuilt Chora's Den. some mentioned the Presidium, perhaps walking in the park and seeing lots of monuments to comment on. Maybe, as I mentioned before, a movie theatre?
ILLIUM: Eternity.
OMEGA: Afterlife (of course)
NORMANDY: if you have a bar....why not?
NOVERIA: At the hotel? Build igloos?
ALLIANCE STARSHIPS/BUILDINGS: must have a bar for weary soldiers
EARTH: Vancouver!

Eh. I thought that a non-combat mission like Samara's or Kasumi's, rather than necessarily a bar-type atmosphere (although Samara's admittedly took place in a bar). The Normandy bar wouldn't work, because you have to buy Kasumi to get it. The Mess or Shepard's cabin might work.

Anyhow. My preference would be for someplace new instead of someplace we've been. (I still like the idea of checking out Shepard's monument, but again that's not necessarily a VS thing).
